Muslims Suffer Due to Neglecting Seerah of Sahabah

Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid urged on imitating the directions of Sahabah and Ahl-ul-Bait of the Messenger of Allah saying Muslims suffer from various sorts of problems because they have left the way of Sahabah behind.

Delivering his Friday sermon on Jan. 31, 2014, he began the talk by the Noble Qur’anic verse: « يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ اتَّقُواْ اللّهَ وَكُونُواْ مَعَ الصَّادِقِينَ», (O you who believe, fear Allah, and be in the company of the truthful.); [9: 119]
He shed light on the great virtues of the Companions and Households of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, and said, “The Muslim nation could not fulfill its responsibilities on Sahabah and Ahl-ul-Bait as it should do; they made sacrifices for the sake of Allah and His perfect religion of Islam. They tolerated all difficulties before migration to Madinah on the path of Allah and Islam. Some of the Companions migrated twice like Uthman bin Affan, may Allah be pleased with him.”

“It is not easy to leave home and motherland; the Prophet Muhammad and his companions left their homes and Ka’bah behind when the divine order asked them. Sahabah defended Islam and the last messenger of Allah in all circumstances as many of them sustained injuries and some got martyrdom,” he added more.

Khateeb of Sunnis in Zahedan, southeastern Iran, underlined Sahabah made sacrifices only to get the pleasure of Allah. He said, “Sahabah, may Allah be pleased with all of them, had a peerless sincerity in good deeds. None of saints (Awliya) can be compared with the Companions in sincerity. All of their struggles and sacrifices were only for the sake of Allah. When Abu-Bakr As-Seddiq, may Allah be pleased with him, was in the cave of Thawr accompanying the prophet, peace be upon him, he did not know one day he would be the caliph of Muslims after the prophet. When Uthman bin Affan was migrating to Habashah (Abyssinia) and Madinah, he was not aware of his future; he became son-in-law and third caliph after the departure of the beloved Muhammad, peace be upon him. The same was the condition of Omar and Ali, may Allah be pleased with them. When 313 of the devotee companions gathered in Badr, they did not know infidels will be defeated badly; they fought with Kuffar for the sake of Allah Almighty.”

Pointing out to some of the virtues of the third caliph, Uthman bin Affan, may Allah be pleased with him, in response to insulting remarks of a Shia cleric in Iran, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid said, “Uthman was a man of honest and respectful ways even before he entered Islam. He was very modest man. The Prophet, peace be upon him, said that even the angels are shy in the presence of Uthman. He is one of the ten promised Paradise (‘Ashara al-Mubasshirah). His nickname is Dhun-Noorayn (Possessor of the two lights – Sayyida Ruqayya bint Muhammad and Sayyida Umm Kulthoom bint Muhammad, peace be upon him always). Tabari mentioned a number of qualities that were exclusive to Uthman on the day of Hudaybiyya; he was the only one for whom the hand of Nabi, peace be upon him, represented his hand when the Sahabah bore allegiance and he was absent. He was the only one who conveyed the message of the Messenger to the Muslim prisoners in Makkah. The Prophet approved of his refusal to perform Tawaaf when he sent him with that message. He was the fourth man to enter Islam after Ameer al-Mu’mineen Abu Bakr Seddiq, Ameer al-Mu’mineen Ali and Zayd ibn Haaritha, may Allah be pleased with all of them. We cannot compare our Ulama and Awliya with these great men.”

He stated Muslims suffer nowadays because they have left the path of Sahabah; they mention their names with respect but deny to imitate them in moral and character. Muslims can be prosperous by exercising the teachings of the Noble Qur’an and Sunnah as the companions used to do. They lived together fraternally supporting each other in difficulties; we also should follow their foot prints in this regard.
