Night of Destiny; Particular Grant to Muslims

Khateeb of Ahl-us-Sunna in Zahedan, Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdul Hameed talked about the virtues and importance of Lailat-ul-Qadr (the night of destiny or value) in his Friday sermon on August 19, 2011 in grand Makki mosque.

He began his words by recitation of Sourh al-Qadr of the Qur’an and explained the reason of revelation of the al-Qadr chapter saying, ‘Once a time, holy prophet (peace & blessings be upon him) expressed the storey of a person from Bani Israel, sons of Israel, who had fought on the way of Allah for one thousand months, according to some other narrations, he fought and did jihad in days and worshiped the Almighty at nights for one thousand months. When the companions of the prophet (Alaihissalam) heard the storey; they amazed a lot and said who can worship Almighty Allah like that son of Israel? As this great Sourah was revealed and Muslims were granted a night to worship Allah at that night in Ramadan which is much better than one thousand months of worshipping Allah Almighty, this is the night of destiny.’

The rector of Darululoom Zahedan added more saying that as our prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the most virtuous prophet and best of all human beings, his ummah (nation) is the best of all nations. So Allah Almighty granted them the valuable night of Qadr which means destination and allotment; Allah Exalted allocates and orders about the upcoming one year of people at Lailat-ul-Qadr. At this s great night, Gabriel and other angels roam around the world; they pay Salam and blessings to worshipers and establishers of prayers.

Shaikh urged that all sayings of the prophet and narrations agree upon the timing of the night of destination that it is in the last ten nights of Ramadan. The prophet Muhammad PBUH used to increase the content of dhikr, tilawah and all sorts of worship in Ramadan, especially, in the last decade of Ramadan. He used to awake his family members at the nights of last decade of each Ramadan and cheer them up to worship Allah more.

He counted some particular worships of Ramadan and the last decade of the month, saying that E’tikaf (staying at mosque) is one of the most important worships which were practiced by holy prophet and his companions. Every Muslim should imitate the life of holy prophet and worship Exalted Allah in the way of the prophet (peace be upon him). Ramadan is a good opportunity for all, no one must miss it. Only travelers and ill ones can eat and drink, the rest must observe fasting in Ramadan.

The Rulers must accept public’s demands:

Khateeb of Ahl-us-Sunnah indicated towards the state incursion of some dictators in some countries against the oppressed nations and said that unfortunately, mostly despot rulers hold the governments in Muslim countries. They answer the public demands by tanks and shooting, instead of enforcing basic reformations they launch military oppressions. People do not want but more liberties and honor. Such despots behave with their masses as if they have occupied a land and kill masses brutally.

Dictators must accept public demands or to leave power for masses.

Love of Ahl-us-Sunna for Sahaba and Ahl-e-Bait is a belief not Taqiya :

Shaikh Abdul Hameed talked about the virtues of the forth caliph Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) saying that the anniversary of Ali’s martyrdom has arrived; Ali bin Abi Talib was one of Kholafa Rashideen (Great Caliphs) and son-in-law of beloved prophet (peace be upon him). He converted to Islam when he was a child and followed the prophet (Alaihissalam). He conquered Khaybar; all Muslims agree that he must be followed.

He emphasized that Sunni Muslims declare Ali and Fatima and their children ‘ideals’, we love them as we love the rest of Sahabas. Sunnis love households of the prophet believing it is the part of their beliefs not because they are afraid of some one or they practice Taqiya (Dissimulation).

‘We believe the true love of Ahl-e-Bait can be exposed by imitation of their instructions. May Allah grant us a life with their sincere love,’ he concluded.
