Sectarian disputes; result of usury

Khateeb of Ahl-us-Sunnah Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdul Hameed (may Allah protect him) delivered a sermon over positive and negative impacts of lawful and clean sustenance on human lives on Friday in grand Makki mosque.
Shaikh began his sermon by recitation of holy verses: “يَا أَيُّهَا الرُّسُلُ كُلُوا مِنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَاعْمَلُوا صَالِحًا إِنِّي بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ عَلِيمٌ  وَإِنَّ هَذِهِ أُمَّتُكُمْ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً وَأَنَا رَبُّكُمْ فَاتَّقُونِ”.

[O (you) Messengers! Eat of the Taiyyibât [all kinds of Halâl (lawful) foods (meat of slaughtered eatable animals, milk products, fats, vegetables, fruits, etc.], and do righteous deeds. Verily! I am Well-Acquainted with what you do.];

O you who believe (in the Oneness of Allâh – Islâmic Monotheism)! Eat of the lawful things that We have provided you with, and be grateful to Allâh, if it is indeed He Whom you worship. He has forbidden you only the Maitah (dead animals), and blood, and the flesh of swine, and that which is slaughtered as a sacrifice for others than Allâh (or has been slaughtered for idols, on which Allâh’s Name has not been mentioned while slaughtering). But if one is forced by necessity without willful disobedience nor transgressing due limits, then there is no sin on him. Truly, Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

He said that Allah Almighty addressed in the first Ayah the prophets (Alaihumossalam) and ordered them to eat lawful (Halal) aliment and do good deeds; though they were very important slaves of Allah and were chosen for prophecy, He ordered them to show the importance and sensitivity of the issue.

Shaikh added more saying, ‘It became clear that sustenance, clothing and all other properties should be lawful and Halal. Secondly we should do good deeds. It means when the sustenance is Halal and free of suspicious money, deeds become good and the person can avoid sins easily.’

Indicating towards the verse of Sourat-ul-Baqarh, the rector of the largest Sunni seminary of Iran said that Allah ordered all Muslims to eat Halal and be grateful. It proves that a person, who eats halal and abstains from Haram, thanks Allah and praises Him. Besides, if somebody wants to worship only Allah, s/he must desist from illegal and suspicious money and property.

Shaikh Abdul Hameed made another point clear that the verse no. 53 of Sourat-ul-Momenoun implicates on unification of all prophets in beliefs and principles; the differences were just in derivative rules (Ahkaam). The verse forbids clashes and differences testifying that most of the sectarian disputes and internal clashes take place due to earning and spending Haram (illegal income).

The eminent Islamic scholar emphasized that “Haram” ruins both soul and body. Usury is like invitation of destruction. Mostly, illegal and Haram money is spent in illegal expenses and for medicine of sudden illness.

He further said that it is so regrettable situation in the present time; usury and illegal income is quite common and prevalent in the human societies. A person may remain safe from the ‘fire’ of Haram, but s/he can not get rid of its ‘smoke’ anyway; as it has been mentioned in a hadith of the prophet Mohammad (peace and blessings be upon him).

Khateeb of Ahl-us-Sunna pointed out, ‘Islam is a perfect religion having instructions and rules for all aspects of life including deals (Mua’malat). Earning halal and legal business is recommended in Islam but telling lie and fibbing is prohibited.’

Shaikh went on saying that employees of different offices should work honestly and avoid from treachery. Every Muslim must run away from Haram, it is not allowed to take something from any one unless making sure donor is happy. Never use properties of orphans, do not take money and wealth of sisters, wife and brothers. The trustees and custodians of masaajid and seminaries should be tactful and cautious over the properties which they must take care.

In the last part of his speech, Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdul Hameed urged that marriage is a worship in Shariah; it must not be destroyed by Haram acts and illegal activities. Women should stay at home and do not come out without any need. Not only women are responsible in this matter but men (fathers, brothers and husbands) also should play their role to order women to practice good hijab in front of others.
