The only path towards Allah is Sunnah

Khateeb of Ahl-us-Sunnah in Zahedan, Shaikh Abdul Hameed talked about the importance of Sunnah of the prophet (peace be upon him) and the need of its obeying in his last sermon on first July.
Starting his sermon by recitation of the holy verse: « قُلْ إِن كُنتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللّهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللّهُ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ وَاللّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ* قُلْ أَطِيعُواْ اللّهَ وَالرَّسُولَ فإِن تَوَلَّوْاْ فَإِنَّ اللّهَ لاَ يُحِبُّ الْكَافِرِينَ» Say (O Muhammad SAW to mankind): “If you (really) love Allâh then follow me (i.e. accept Islâmic Monotheism, follow the Qur’ân and the Sunnah), Allâh will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” He said that most of people in the era of our beloved prophet Mohammad (Alaihissalam) used to claim that they had loved Allah Almighty; even in the present time most of people, regardless to their religion, claim to love Allah. But Allah has defined a specific path to Him; if anyone wants Allah and His pleasure then the only way is the rout which is stated in above-mentioned verse.

Explaining the path towards Allah, Shaikh added more, ‘The holy Qur’an has made it clear that the only rout is obeying the Sunnah of holy prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). We should imitate his teachings in every aspect of life. In some places it is fardh (necessary) to obey him, where in some practices it is mostahab and Sunnah; as in the case of five-time prayers and Zakah we must imitate the rules which are narrated from Sunnah, the Qur’an just orders to offer prayers; but how? The answer is in Sunnah. Apart of these worships, Muslims should follow the prophet Mohammad (Alaihissalam) even in internal and spiritual worships like khushou and khudhoo.’

Talking to tens of thousand worshipers in the grand Makki mosque, Mawlana Abdul Hameed urged that imitation of Sunnah, whether it is fardh or mostahabb, makes the followers of Sunnah nearer to Allah Almighty. Because Allah loves all methods of His messenger Mohammad (Alaihissalam). If somebody loves Allah but does not obey the teachings and words of the prophet, so Allah does not accept his/her love.

Khateeb of Sunnis continued saying, ‘Allah (subhanahu wa taa’la) declared our beloved prophet (peace be upon him) the best ideal to be obeyed. His words, actions and directions must be part of our routine life. Sunnah is not limited in beard and siwak, though these are very important, but Sunnah is a wider and comprehensive word which includes each and every angle of life. No doubt, denying the Sunnah of the prophet and following others’ ways is a lethal act which leads to destruction.’

He said more that routine life of the prophet was divided in three parts; first part for worshipping Allah and remembering Him, second part was specified for family members and the third part was to take rest.

Shaikh pointed out that opposite of Sunnah is bid’ah (innovation is Islam). Innovators obey their ego and desires. They become nearer to Satan not Allah.
