‘Sunnat is the easiest way to get Janna’
molana26After recitation the Koranic verses: من يطع الرسول فقد أطاع الله” “, (if a person obeys the messenger surely he has obeyed Allah almighty) and “قل إن كنتم تحبون الله فاتبعوني يحببكم الله” (say to them! Oh people if you want to love Allah almighty so you must obey me, Allah almighty would love you); the Imam and Khateeb of Makki masjid for Sunni community in Zahidan respected Shaikh Abdul Hameed talked about the significance of sunnat and explained well how the following of prophet’s way is important; as Allah almighty said that following the holy prophet (PBUH) is equal to follow Him, exactly to disobey the prophet(PBUH) is equal to disobey Allah, in the same way as there is guidance in the holy Quran for mankind, there is guidance in the sunnat of holy prophet (PBUH) too; because the instructions mentioned in Ahadeeth have been taken from the way where the holy Quran has been come from, it means both the fountains are connected to Allah almighty, we can say the holy Quran is book where the basic and major principles have been mentioned in, rather the sunnat of holy prophet (PBUH) explains such principles.

“It is not possible to understand the Qur’an completely and practice its commands without following the sunnah of the prophet of Allah. Islam is a complete religion only with the Qur’an and the Sunnah. At that times when the Qur’an was revealed, the people around the prophet learned and practiced the commands of Islam as required by looking at the examples of the prophet. Indeed, the prophet has been an important example with his life, where he practiced the commands of the religion, for us to understand the Qur’an,” he added.
The grand Sunni scholar explained some examples and said, “We can give “Salah” (ritual prayers) as a clear example to understanding the commands of the religion. As well known, in Islam, performing salat five times a day is an obligation and there are some verses just order us to perform it, how to perform ablution. However, we can understand how exactly we should perform prayers only by looking at Sunnah; because there is no detailed information in the verses about the way of praying, what to say in prayer, the way of man and woman’s performing the prayer, the degree of importance of the prayers, the details of ablution, and what nullifies ablution. We can learn such details only by looking at Sunnah of the prophet peace be upon him.”
“As another example, we can mention the suggestions of the prophet about Friday and the things he said about Friday prayer. Beside the subjects such as speaking that which is best, cleanness, foods, modesty, there are verses in the Qur’an about obligations such as fasting, ablution and hajj (pilgrimage). However, there is no detailed information about those worships in the verses of Qur’an. We learn the detailed information about how to perform these worships from the interpretations of the scholars about the words and habits of the prophet Muhammad PBUH,” Shaikh more added.
Respected Shaikh Abdul Hameed further said that certainly the life of the holy prophet (PBUH), his sayings and his actions are exactly explanation of holy Quran, as Zakat is mentioned in the greatest book of Allah almighty but there is no detail of giving Zakat, which quantity money is necessary for it? How many kinds of Zakat are there in goods, agriculture and wealth? Thus it is impossible to neglect the importance of Sunnah of holy prophet (PBUH).
Shaikh explained the importance of Hadeeth more and said that undoubtedly the holy Quran is very understandable, it is very solid when it talks about ideologies (Aqa’ed), the morals and ethics clearly, but the Islamic orders (Ahka’m) are not clear hundred percent, it is only Hadeeth which explains the commands of Allah almighty, so the Sunnah of prophet is the basic need of us, without Sunnah none can understand the holy Quran.

The concept of obeying the messenger

“The point one needs to pay attention in the verses is that they emphasize on the concept of “obeying the Messenger”. This point shows us that following the Messenger, in other words following his commands and rules is a worship that Allah brought as an obligation. When we look at the verses, we again see that our prophet has the authority to enjoin and forbid things. For example, the verse “ماآتاكم الرسول فخذوه وما نهاكم عنه فانتهوا” “…. (and whatever the Messenger gives you, accept it, and from whatever he forbids you, keep back, and be careful of (your duty to) Allah.); shows that the prophet may forbid certain things for his ummah, a part from those things that are forbidden in the Qur’an. Besides, it is again informed in the verses that the believers took the matters that they did not understand to the prophet and the prophet judged for them,” Mawlana Abdul Hameed pointed.
Respected Shaikh mentioned the qualities of the followers of Sunnah that holy prophet (PBUH) him self emphasized to copy his Sunna completely, rather some times Sunnah gets the state of wajoob (obligatory), some times it is considered very important like “Miswak”(chewing stick) it is Sunnat but holy prophet (PBUH) says: “لولا أن أشق على أمتي لأمرتهم بالسواك”. (Were it not to be a hardship on my community, I would have ordered them to use Siwak for every ablution), in the same way holy prophet (PBUH) mentioned the benefits of Siwak, the messenger of Allah says: “ Siwak purifies the mouth and pleases Allah, thus some times the rewards of prayer are doubled by having Siwak, as the last messenger says: “صَلاَةٌ بِسِوَاكٍ خَيْرٌ مِنْ سَبْعِينَ صَلاَةً بِغَيْرِ سِوَاكٍ (the prayer with Siwak is better then the seventy prayers without Siwak).
Shaikh Abdul Hameed added more that cleaning is the man’s right, none can do it against the rule of Shariah. As well as holy prophet (PBUH) says: “المتمسك بسنتي عند فساد أمتي له أجر شهيد (a person who takes my Sunnah strongly at the time of not having well of my Umma he will get the rewards of Shaheed (the one who was killed in the way of Allah).
At end of his speech he said, “Sunnat is the easiest way to get Jannah (paradise) that is why we should accept the Sunnah in every field of life, because it is actually the light which we can remove darkness by.”
