‘Religious government must not prohibit offering prayers’
molana21‘One of the most important responsibilities and duties of any religious government is to pave the way for offering prayers. Unfortunately some officials who are intellectually deviants in fact they impede the establishment of prayers in some areas. Any justification is not realized in such practices .certainly it is nothing except intellectual deviation and narrow-mind.’ Maulana Abdul Hameed said.

Imam of the largest mosque of Sunni community, Sheikh-ul-Islam Maulan Abdul Hameed pointed out the responsibility of any religious government to officially pave the way not only for prayers rather for every religious activity and said, “it is the most important responsibility of any religious government is to establish prayers (Salat) officially and to force the masses to ensure offering Salat across the country as well as to encourage people for it.”
Grand Sheikh indicated towards some officials that they prevent the masses of different areas of Iran from offering Friday prayer, even in some houses in major cities and further he said: “We deplore of the exercise of certain elements who have banned the Friday prayers which were offered in homes; for many days they have been cracking down on Sunni Muslims who want to offer this great prayer of jumat ul mubarak with congregation in their houses. Undoubted such elements are intellectually deviants and they are really narrow minded; they have considered sensitivity Sunni mosques, Islamic schools and calling towards Islam and Allah much more sensitive than other issues. Although the Constitution [of Iran] does not prevent anyone from practicing his faith in the exercise of religious activities, whether Muslim or non-Muslim yet they are afraid of Da’wat and Tabligh organization who does not have any kind of relationship with political affairs and any other sects.” {It should be mentioned that Sheikh Abdul Hamid’s critical statement came out to protest against preventing Sunnis from offering prayers with congregations in some public universities, army and police stations specially they forbid Sunnis from offering Friday and Eid prayers in some major cities such as Isfahan, Yazd, Kerman and Kashan and some areas on the outskirts of Tehran.}
He added that the government should not prevent masses from prayers; rather everyone should be invited to offer Salat. We hope that all of Shiites and Sunnis will initiate to perform this duty which is the most important pillar of Islam after oneness (Tawheed), which included success of this life as well hereafter.
Great Sunni leader considered it the enmity of such officials regarding construction of mosques, religious schools and Quranic institutes of the Sunnis which is completely against of any religious government in addition to it he said that the constitution of Iran authorized the freedom of educational and religious activities of each sect existing in Iran.
Sheikh Abdul Hamid further said, ” there are some villages where only one family of Shiite sect lives (in Sunni areas) yet they built a Shiah mosque and Sunnis agreed with this action because neither Shiites worship Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) nor Ahl-e-Sunnat worship Ali and Omar (God bless them), but they all worship Allah. The problem is that the Iranian officials do not allow us to build mosques and religious schools in major cities that are inhabited by a large number of the Sunnis.”
After reciting a part of Holy Quran’s verse: “وأقم الصلاة إن الصلاة تنهى عن الفحشاء والمنكر”; Sheikh explained the importance of Salat (prayer) and Azan (calling towards Almighty Allah). He said that Salat became fardh (obligatory) in the beginning of Islam in Makkah Mukarramah. Salat is the most important pillar of Islam after believing in Almighty Allah (two Shahaadat {to witness that God is only one}.
Maulana Abdul Hameed narrated the famous hadeeth of Abdullah bin Zaid bin Abde Rabbeh (may Allah be pleased with him) about words of Azan and said, “These short words of Azan is conclusion of our complete religion, in fact, Azan is the motto of our religion which is unparalleled in the previous religions; it gives the message to accept the oneness of Almighty Allah (tashahhud (to witness that God is only one) and Muhammad (P.BU.H) is the last prophet of Almighty Allah; Azan is a call for prayers and to move towards Salat.”
He added, “If time of prayer reaches so this is the time to make your self busy only to remember almighty Allah. Here is no prosperity for study, teaching and other businesses when the time of salah comes. The objective of Azan and offering salat in congregation is attendance in mosques and standing in rows to offer prayers; the failure from prayers in the first covenant was the sign of hypocrisy. It was narrated from Abdullah , he said: no one was staying away from prayers except a hypocrite who was known for his hypocrisy or patient; if patient was able to walk between two men, he was coming up for prayers to mosque.”
Sheikh pointed out to settle rows in prayers as one of the important things in salat, which was persevered assiduously by the Prophet of mercy and Sheikh further said that the Prophet peace be upon him interested in making rows during prayers; rows were settled by him strictly; when the rows were straight then the Holy prophet (P.BU.H) leads congregation.
At the end of his speech Sheikh Abdul Hameed said, “If I asked about the biggest crisis at the present time which Umma faces it, I would like to answer that is only crisis of missing of prayers; Muslim men and women are not habitual to offer prayers on the time. Many Muslims miss salat completely.” (May Allah guide us to the way of jannah).
