Prominent Sunni Scholar of Southern Iran Passes away

Shaikh Abdol-Aziz Qazizadeh, the Friday Imam of Sunnis in Evaz/Fars, passed away after enduring a period of illness in a hospital of Gerash city on Friday, June 16, 2023. The ceremony of his funeral prayers was held in the city of Evaz on Sunday morning, June 18.
The late Qazizadeh was born in a pious family in Evaz in 1946. After getting primary education in his hometown, he went to Bandar Lengeh and enrolled in Sultan-ul-Ulama Seminary. After spending seven years in Sultan-ul-Ulama, Shaikh Abdol-Aziz left Iran to the United Arab Emirates, and studied at the scientific center of the city of R’as-al-Khaimah. To get higher education, Shaikh Qazizadeh traveled to Saudi Arabia and enrolled in the Islamic University of Madinah; in 1984, he received his master’s degree in the Islamic sciences there.
Shaikh Abdol-Aziz was the source of many religious and social services in the south of the country. He was considered as one of the inviters towards unity among Muslims. The late served as a teacher in Sadr-ul-Islam seminary of Bandar Khamir, in religious schools of Evaz, and was the director of Ahmadiyeh seminary of Evaz. He was known as a source of fatwa in the city.
