Prominent Sunni Scholar Martyred in Khash

Mawlana Abdol-Wahed Rigi, a prominent Iranian Baloch cleric, was kidnapped by unknown terrorists from in front of his mosque and then was killed.
His corpse was found, a day after his kidnapping, near the side of a rural road in the suburb of Khash city on Friday noon December 9, 2022.
Local sources confirmed that on Thursday, December 8, after performing noon prayers, unknown terrorists kidnapped him while he was returning from his mosque to home. After several hours of searching, his dead body was found on the outskirts of Khash city. Khash is located 179 km in the south of Zahedan, the provincial capital of Iranian Balochistan.
The Security Council of Sistan-Baluchistan province confirmed the martyrdom of Shaikh Abdol-Wahed by issuing a statement. According to this statement, he was hit by three bullets in the head and throat, as a result of which he died. The investigation into the reasons for his murder continues.
Mawlana Rigi was the Friday prayer leader of Imam Hossein mosque in Khash city and a Hadith teacher in Madinat-ul-Uloom Islamic seminary of the same city. His son Mawlavi Ghulamullah is a teacher at Darululoom Zahedan, who previously served as a teacher in Jamia Darululoom Karachi.
Many scholars, national and provincial officials and social figures have strongly condemned this incident.
The funeral prayer of Mawlana Abdol-Wahed was held in the presence of tens of thousands of people from different parts of Balochistan on Saturday, December 10, at the Grand Musalla of Khash.
Before this biter incident, another religious scholar, Mawlavi Hafez Karim Bakhsh Sepahi, was shot dead by unknown people in Mehrestan, Balochistan. The religious scholar who was martyred on November 7 was a teacher of Matla-ul-Uloom Mehrestan.
On June 4, Mawlana Muhammad Karim Hammali, temporary Friday Khateeb of Baluchistan’s Sarbaz district and a prominent religious scholar and social activist, was also murdered, but no one claimed responsibility for their murder.
