Imam Hossein Stood against Oppression by Rightful Demand of People

Referring to the anniversary of martyrdom of Imam Hussain and his uprising, the most influential Iranian Sunni leader considered Imam Hussain, may Allah be pleased with him, as a good example for Muslims and all free people of the world.

While explaining the incident of Karbala and the goals of Sayyidana Hussain’s uprising, in his Friday sermons of Zahedan, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid advised various Islamic sects and religions to imitate the Households of the holy prophet, peace be upon him, in all aspects of life.
Talking to tens of thousands of worshipers in Zahedan, the capital city of Sistan-Balochistan province on August 5, 2022, the Friday Khateeb of Zahedan said: “There is a lot of lessons in Imam Hussain’s uprising for all Muslims and free and wise people of the world. The uprising of Imam Hussain is alive in the memories forever.”
“Ahlul-Bayt supported the holy Prophet PBUH and his righteous caliphs, Abu Bakr, Omar, Othman and Ali, May Allah be pleased with all of them. The caliphate of the guided caliphs was based on the way of the Prophet and according to his noble Shari’ah,” said the president of Darululoom Zahedan.
Shaikh Abdol-Hamid added: “Ahlul-Bayt supported and accompanied the caliphs of Islam; at that time there were no disputes among Muslims. After the martyrdom of the Caliph Othman, may Allah be pleased with him, differences emerged among Muslims; the Islamic Ummah was divided into two wings; most of the affairs of the Muslims were in the hands of the Caliph Ali, and the rest of the works were in the hands of Muawiyah, may Allah be pleased with them”.
“After the martyrdom of the Caliph Ali, Sayyidana Hassan prevented the Islamic territory from being divided into two parts, so he compromised with Sayyidana Muawiyah. They agreed that the ruler should rule according to the way of the holy prophet and the righteous caliphs, and the unity of Muslims must be preserved,” he continued his speech.
The Friday Imam of the Grand Makki Mosque of Zahedan went on to say: “The Islamic Caliphate continued in this way until the Caliph Muawiyah was alive. After the passing of Muawiyah, Yazid took the rein of Muslims’ affairs. He was a weak, inexperienced, and ignorant young man. During his ruling, corruption, injustice, and disputes revealed. Many of the great companions did not pledge allegiance to Yazid and the Islamic land was about to be torn apart. There was a fear that Yazid would lose the achievements of the Prophet and the righteous caliphs and the Muslims.”
“The people of Kufa who were close to Ali also expressed their concerns. They felt that the Islamic world needs a capable and just administrator. People said that Hussein, may Allah be pleased with him, is a just and a capable ruler who can run the affairs well. They invited Hussain to come to Kufa to support him and pledge allegiance to him; Imam Hossein believed that people’s voices should be heard, their demands must be fulfilled, and they should not be ignored”, said Mawlana Abdol-Hamid.
He added: “Imam Husain moved to Kufa, the incident of Karbala took place and the ruler launched a campaign against Imam Hussain. Imam Hussain said to that people: you have invited me to Kufa and I have not come to fight; if you are not satisfied with me, I will return to Madinah. The soldiers did not allow Imam Hussain to return to Madinah and told him: we must take you to Yazid as a captive. Imam Hussain said: This is humiliation and it is not possible for me to accept humiliation.”
“Imam Hussein stood against cruelty and did not accept captivity and was martyred with his companions. Yazid committed such crimes that cannot be denied. In fact, Yazid did not have capability to run the affairs of Muslims,” said the eminent Iranian Sunni scholar.
President of Darululoom Zahedan said: “Imam Hussain did not go to the field of war by choice, but the war was imposed on him. If Imam Hussein went to war, he would take an army with him and would not take his family. He preferred martyrdom to captivity. Imam Hussain is a role model for all Muslims and free people of the world; his uprising against oppression was for the implementation of justice and according to the truth. He considered it necessary to hear the voice of the people.”

Imitation of Ahlul-Bayt is a commonality among all Islamic sects
The most influential Iranian Sunni leader alluded to the position of the households of the prophet, peace be upon him, and said: “Ahlul-Bayt is among the commonalities of all Muslims; all Muslims love them. Sunnis set only three days of mourning and do not wear black clothes according to their jurisprudence. They do not believe in celebrating the death anniversary of anyone, not a religious elder, nor a prophet, friend, family member, etc.”
“As Muslims, we should always follow the path of our religious elders, maintain and respect their sanctity and position,” he underlined.
The Iranian Sunnis’ leader advised all Islamic sects and religions to tolerate each other’s religious ceremonies and said: “Tolerating each other is one of the necessities of unity; the followers of all Islamic religions should have freedom in holding their religious ceremonies safely. If Muslims tolerate each other, it will lead to greater unity and cohesion and will bring hearts of Muslims closer together.”
“As I said on the last Friday, we urge that our Shia brothers have the right to observe their ceremonies according to their jurisprudence freely and safely. No one should insult the holy personalities and sites of the other sect,” he underlined.

Fasting on the day of Ashura, the most rewarding day after Ramadan
Referring to the approach of the day of Ashura, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid advised Muslims to observe fast on this day and stated: “Fasting on the day of Ashura has a great reward. At the beginning of Islam and before the fasting of the holy month of Ramadan, fasting on the day of Ashura was obligatory, but after Ramadan, the obligation of fasting on the tenth Muharram was abolished and only its recommendation remained.”
“According to a Hadith, Fasting on Muharram has the greatest rewards after the fasting of Ramadan,” he added more.

Couples are mercy of Allah for each other
In his last points of the Friday speech of Zahedan, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid advised the couples, saying: “Husband and wife are mercy of Allah for each other, so they should tolerate each other. When couples maintain mutual respect, observe each other’s rights, and love each other, this love transfers to their children and spreads to society through them.”
“To have a more beautiful and continuous life, couples should embrace and tolerate each other and be very kind. The holy prophet, peace be upon him, advised his nation regarding women right in the last days of his life”, said Imam of the Grand Makki Mosque of Zahedan.
