President Raisi’s Advisor meets Shaikh Abdol-Hamid in Zahedan

Dr. Abdus-Salam Karimi, Advisor to the President Raisi on Ethnic and Religious Minorities’ Affairs, met with Shaikh Abdol-Hamid at his office in Darululoom Zahedan, southeast Iran, on Thursday Nov. 25, 2021.
A group of prominent teachers of Darululoom Zahedan and some provincial officials, including the political deputy governor of Sistan-Balochestan and the mayor of Zahedan city attended the meeting.
In this meeting, the demands and expectations of ethnic and religious communities especially the demands of Sunnis of Iran were discussed.
Shaikh Abdol-Hamid welcomed the President’s Advisor for his presence at Darululoom Zahedan and congregated him.
The most influential Iranian Sunni leader referred to the unity and fraternity of the people of Sistan-Balochistan and considered the security of the borders as the result of the struggle of the people of this region.
The Iranian Sunnis’ leader further alluded to the recent presidential election in Iran by saying: “We went through a difficult and a historical election. In this election, we had many problems and there were propagandas to inflame the situation. Despite these, Sunnis participated in the election to determine their destiny.”
He continued: “Meeting the demands of the Sunnis, especially in the current situation where there are propagandas against our country, ends to lasting unity and provides national security.”
“In a letter to the president Raisi, I said that employing capable people of different ethnicities and religions will strengthen national cohesion,” said the Friday prayer leader of Sunnis in Zahedan.
Addressing the adviser to the President Raisi, president of Darululoom Zahedan said: “You have a big mission. I hope that your appointment to this position will be the origin of goodness and blessings for the Iranian ethnicities and religions.”
“I would like to ask you to convey the demands of people to the president and to other high-ranking officials so that the officials of the country will be informed of the realities and facts in the society,” Mawlana Abdol-Hamid addressed the president Raisi’s advisor in a meeting in his office at Darululoom Zahedan.
Mamousta Dr. Abdus-Salam Karimi, Advisor to the President Raisi on Ethnic & Religious Minorities’ affairs also conveyed the greetings of the President Raisi to Shaikh Abdol-Hamid and said: “I have a mission from President Raisi to pursue the appointments of Sunni figures in official positions, in Sistan-Balochistan during my visit to this province.”
“When I met with the provincial governor of Sistan-Balochestan and with his political deputy, I was told that Sunnis have been appointed to positions such as district governor and provincial deputy governor. I told them these are not enough and this process must continue,” said the President Raisi’s advisor on Sunnis’ affaires.
“Certainly using Sunnis in official posts is more effective than writing several books on the subject of unity. Many books have been written on unity, now it is the time to act on the constitution and engage Sunnis in official jobs,” he told Shaikh Abdol-Hamid.
Karimi added: ‘Article 19 of the Constitution states that all Iranian ethnicities have equal rights and no one is superior to another because of gender, color, race, language and so on.’
“Engaging Sunnis in official positions is in accordance with the constitution and it is in the interest of the system. The appointment of Sunnis in official jobs is an investment not a cost which should be paid. We should act in such a way that no nation or religion feels abandoned, rather we should behave in such a way that all Iranians can participate in the development of the country”, Dr. Abdus-Salam Karimi said in his last points.
