Prominent Sunni Scholar Passes away in South Khorasan

Mawlana Abdol-Wahed Ahrari, a prominent Sunni scholar in South Khorasan has passed away at after suffering from illnesses. He was 93.
“SunniOnline” learnt that his funeral ceremony was held on May 4, 2021, in Gazik city of southern Khorasan with the presence of different classes from Khorasan, Sistan-Balochistan and other provinces.
Shaikh Abdol-Wahed Ahrari was a descendant of Khawaja Obaidullah Ahrari, whose lineage returns to Sayyidana Abu Bakr Seddiq, may Allah be pleased with him, as well as to Sayyidana Umar Farooq, may Allah be pleased with him.
Their ancestors have always been the spiritual leaders of people and their referent in social issues.
Mawlana Ahrari was born in Gazik, Darmian. After completing his primary education in his hometown, he traveled to Herat, Afghanistan to get higher education in Islamic sciences. At that time, Herat was the center of knowledge for the people of Khorasan.
After 10 years, by graduating from Islamic sciences, Shaikh Ahrari returned to his homeland and served people in Faiz Abad as a leader and fought against superstitions.
Ahrari was appointed as the first director of the Sunni Hajj caravan in Iran as he directed Hajj caravans in the provinces of Khorasan, Golestan and Sistan-Baluchistan for several years.
Then, by the offer of Mawlana Abdol-Aziz, the founder of Darululoom Zahedan, he left Khorasan to Zahedan; during this time he always accompanied Mawlana Abdol-Aziz.
In Zahedan, Shaikh Abdol-Wahed was appointed as Imam of the Noor Mosque, one of the oldest mosques of Zahedan city.
Shaikh Abdol-Wahed authored several books in Persian and Arabic.
