Shaikh Ab. Hamid in a meeting with some Shia clerics:

New Generation Should Bypass “Bigotry Culture”

Prominent Iranian Sunni scholar urged on Ulama to unite Muslims and said that the new generation should bypass the culture of bigotry and counterbalance in society.
Talking to a delegation of the graduates and researchers of the Islamic Sects Foundation of Qom, Shaikh Abdol-Hamid said on Wednesday 20th Feb. 2019: “We live in a quite different situation comparing to the past. There are disputes and conflicts between Shia and Sunni communities and even we see followers of one sect suffer from disputes.”
“Today Islam is at risk. Before this, the world stood against communism by the help of Islam, but now they are against Islam considering it their main enemy and rival. The Western and Eastern elements have been striving and making plans to uproot this divine religion,” he added more.
President of Darululoom Zahedan underlined: “Muslims have some differences in tenets and juridical issues; these differences are inevitable. Despite it, Muslims have to be united and one hand against their common enemies.”
“We should eliminate the culture of ‘bigotry’ and pass from this stage. There is need of a counterbalance in this regard. There are people among Shias and Sunnis with mindset, tendencies and viewpoints of 50 years ago; the new generation should pass such thoughts with open-mindness,” he emphasized.
Khateeb of Sunnis said: “Due to religious fanaticism among Muslims, the enemies laugh at us and they misuse such bigotries to ensure their interests. They create conflicts by misusing fanaticism and bigotry. So Muslims should be careful. We deny bigotry and we think that everyone should be free to act according to his sect without insulting others.”
