Mawlana Ab. Hamid in the 32nd Unity Conference of Tehran:

Muslim Rulers Should Recognize Ethnic, Religious Communities

The most influential Iranian Sunni leader called on Muslim rulers around the world to recognize all ethnic and religious communities and equip them with their due rights.
The official website of Shaikh Abdol-Hamid reported, talking to the participants of the 32nd International Unity Conference in Tehran, he said: “We have been gathered here in a time while the Muslim world suffers from various kinds of challenges; “sectarianism”, “difference”, “extremism”, “conflict”, “threat” and “humiliation” are the major problems and challenges before Muslims.”
“Unfortunately challenges of the Muslim world have been neglected and there has not been any pathology to study main reasons behind the challenges and problems,” he added more.
The prominent Islamic scholar further said: “Many Muslim countries such Syria, Yemen and Iraq were safe and calm in past, but now they suffer from wars and famine. On one conducts any pathology to find out the root causes of such crises. Most of today’s resistances are against the results not the root causes.”
“We as Muslims have the assets of the Qur’an, the Prophet Mohammad PBUH, and Islam; many of Europeans and Americans and world nations do not have these assets. Despite it why Muslims suffer from problems and challenges?” he added more.
Shaikh Abdol-Hamid said: “The main reason of all problems is our distance from the Noble Qur’an and Sunnah. We pride on the Qur’an, Hadith and Islam, but there is no any sign of these sources in our lives.”
“Implementation of justice is one of the important basics of Islam which is absent in Muslim countries. Unity is also one of the orders of Islam, but it has been facing challenges, too. These behaviors are the results of Muslims’ distance from the directions of the Qur’an and Sunnah,” he underlined.
The most influential Iranian Sunni scholar addressed intellectuals and said: “All scholars and intellectuals should meditate how to get Muslims back towards Islam. Muslims should be told that the only remedy is in repentance and returning to the Qur’an and Sunnah.”
He applauded some parts of president Rouhani’s speech and said: “Shia Muslims wherever they live should be recognized and their due rights should be provided. Also Sunni minorities wherever they are should be respected and get their due rights. Justice should be for all.”
“There must not be any discrimination between Shia and Sunni Muslims; these discriminations should be removed,” Shaikh Abdol-Hamid urged.
He called on Muslim rulers to be united and said: “Muslim countries should not stand against each other, they should be next together. Important and influential countries like Iran, Turkey and Saudi Arabia should be side by side. We regret strongly that Muslim rulers’ summit cannot be held due to their differences.”
“Islam is the religion of act; if we act instead of talking and chanting slogans, all problems will be resolved. This conference has been held by the Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought which has no administrative and executive authorities, but we convey message to governments to respect all citizens’ due rights. Then we can reach to unity and solidarity,” Khateeb of Sunnis concluded his points.
