‘All Elements of Iran Obliged to Avoid Discrimination’

Responding to the letter of Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid who demanded the end of discriminations and religious obstacles on Iranian Sunnis, he urged on ‘all elements of the Islamic Republic’ to avoid from discriminations.

“SunniOnline” quoted the website of the office of Shaikh Abdol-Hamid which has published the text of his letter expressing his thanks to the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on his “historical, wisely and distinguisher” order about discrimination in the country.

The Friday imam of Sunnis in Zahedan has said: “The historical order of the wise leader in the sensitive circumstances of the region and country disappoints the bad-wishers of Iran and makes the Iranian nation happy. Also it will be among the everlasting good deeds of him and its fruit is national solidarity and durable peace.”

“This order has clarified the religious and legal responsibility of all military, civilian and elements of the Islamic Republic regarding the implementation of justice and equality between all sects and ethnicities,” he added more.

Expressing his thanks to Ayatollah Khamenei, the most influential Iranian Sunni leader said: “I hope the respectable directors in different levels will take this clear and Godly message the light of their way, taking action for removing any kind of discrimination and inequality among the people of Iran who are like members of one family.”

It is noteworthy that Shaikh Abdol-Hamid has asked the leader in a letter on 2nd August to resolve the problems of the Sunni community. The copies of both letters were distributed among the attendees of the elites of Sistan-Baluchistan who gathered at Milad Tower in Tehran.

The letter of the Iranian leader has been written by his chief of staff, Mohammad Mohammadi Golpayegani, who quoted Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as saying: “All elements of the Islamic Republic are duty bound, in accordance with the religious teachings and the Constitution, to refrain from allowing any discrimination and inequality among Iranians from any ethnicity, race or faith”.

Mohammadi Golpayegani concludes the letter: “We firmly believe that all should firmly stay together in solid and united ranks to preserve glory and dignity of Islamic Republic of Iran and spare no effort to this end in order to prevent enemies from causing division in the country.”

Meanwhile according to the published letter of Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid, he said urged in his letter to the leader: “The feeling of patriotism, Islamism and solidarity of the Sunni community and their support from the Islamic Republic and its respectable leader are not hidden from any one. Despite all problems, adversities and cold shoulders […] they have stood against violence, extremism and sectarian elements.”

“In spite of repeated stresses of his excellency about resistance with discrimination and inequality in your meetings with authorities on different occasions, unfortunately discrimination and inequality still rage as if we report the details from the Sunni-dominated regions and the center of the country, it will annoy you,” the principal and rector of Darululoom Zahedan added more.

Pointing out to two major problems of the Iranian Sunni community, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid has written in his letter: “The children of Sunnis suffer from inequality and they are worried. They expect his Excellency will end all inequalities during the past 38 years by a distinguisher order.”

He alluded to the second problem of the Sunnis in his letter and said: “The children of the supreme leader expect their religious freedoms will be taken more seriously; especially regarding daily five-time and Friday prayers in metropolises, particularly in Tehran your order will cut off hands’ of all extremists who tease us.”

“The above mentioned points have been presented without any animus selflessly keeping in mind the critical situation of the region for discretion,” the spiritual leader of Sunnis in Iran concluded his letter.
