Sunni Community Should be Engaged in New Cabinet

The most influential Iranian Sunni leader has stated the demands of the Sunni community of Iran from the new government by the start of presidential election campaign in Iran. Mawlana Abdol-Hamid asked for the share of the Sunni community in the new cabinet, terming the right of Sunnis.

The official website of Shaikh Abdol-Hamid reported the speech of him before more than 200.000 Sunni citizens gathered at Darululoom Zahedan to take part in the 26th graduation ceremony of Darululoom Zahedan on Tuesday 25th April, 2017.
He said: “Unfortunately, 38 years since the revolution have passed but without the participation of the Iranian Sunni community in any cabinet. In the upcoming election we will see who has a wider view. We should examine who is in favor of the whole nation and secondly can resolve the problems of the Sunni community.”
“The Iranian Sunnis will cast their votes in the elections, but they expect to have ministers in the new cabinet. Also there should be vice-president, vice-minister, ambassador and provincial governors from the Sunni community,” the rector of Darululoom Zahedan underlined.
He urged on peaceful struggle to achieve the rights of the Sunni community and said more: “The elements which put pressure on governments to employ Sunnis in higher posts are extremists. Governments should resist strongly as we stood against the Sunni extremists. We believe in dialogue and following the case of our rights by negotiation.”
“We are against insecurity; rather we have been playing a key role in maintenance of peace and stability in the country. But we never give up our due rights; it is our right to present our demands by different communication sources and the rest of legal and international methods and channels. The Iranian Sunni community demands its religious freedoms to establish prayers and educate children freely,” the prominent Sunni leader made it clear.

Request from the Supreme Leader
Shaikh Abdol-Hamid clearly said: “We know the governments in Iran have no full authority; thus the Iranian Sunni community expects the supreme leader will issue an order to resolve the problems of the Sunni community and participation of them in cabinets and other posts.”
He expressed his satisfaction with the services of the Sunni Bloc in the parliament, asking them to pursue the rights of the Sunnis.
Mawlana Abdol-Hamid once again urged on the necessity of the amendment of the constitution. He said: “The constitution has been approved by the Assembly of Experts and it can be revised and reformed partly. The law which forbids Sunni elites from candidacy to run for presidential election must be changed as it discriminates among the nation.”

The Muslim world crises and resolutions
The most influential Iranian Sunni leader alluded to the ongoing crises of the Muslim world in the 26th graduation ceremony of Darululoom Zahedan and said: “The crises of the Muslim world should be studied to find out the main reasons of them. The first reason is the negligence of Muslims in acting upon the Shari’ah.”
Criticizing the ‘disability of the international community’ to resolve the crises of the region and said: “The world powers are infirm to resolve the crises. They avoid from pathology of the crises deliberately. They just want to resolve the problems by force and using weapons.”
He pointed out: “The UN and its security council also cannot resolve the region’s crises. The members of the SC have differences; if a country decides, the other once exercises ‘veto’ against it.”
The member of the MWL, then, went on to count the factors behind spread of extremism in the world. He termed ‘occupation on Palestine by the sinister Israeli regime’ the first reason of extremism.
He said: “The world’s powers support the regime of Israel instead of putting pressure on it to leave occupation.”
“The so-called superpowers themselves are responsible for the ongoing extremism in the world; they invaded on Muslim states such as Afghanistan and Iraq. They spread the culture of weapon and militancy by invasion on those countries,” Shaikh Abdol-Hamid emphasized.
He counted ‘enmity with Islam’ the other cause of extremism in the world. He said: “When the copies of the Qur’an are burnt in the US, the blasphemous cartoons of the prophet PBUH are printed and the enmity with Islam emerges, it is clear the feelings of Muslims get lacerated. It provokes some people to take gun and react.”
“The tyrant regimes imprisoned their opponents instead of listening to them; when they came out, they organized to take revenge. Instead of invasion and calling people towards extremism, there should be a fair pathology into the main reasons of extremism,” Mawlana Abdol-Hamid added more.
He concluded his points by saying: “We just want the betterment of Muslim nations, but actually we cannot do anything. We are marginalized; otherwise the resolution of the problems and bringing opponents on the table of negotiation to share power is very easy.”
Khateeb of Sunnis also called on both Shia and Sunni communities to respect the sanctities of each other.
