Israel kills Palestinian in W. Bank refugee camp

A Palestinian youth was killed by Israeli army gunfire at a refugee camp in the occupied West Bank on Monday, according to a Palestinian medical official.

Mahmed Abu Latefeh, 18, died after being shot by Israeli troops at the Qalandia refugee camp between Ramallah and East Jerusalem, Ahmed al-Beitawi, director of the Ramallah Medical Center, told Anadolu Agency.
“Israeli forces handed over his body some six hours after he was pronounced dead,” said al-Beitawi.
Israeli police, for their part, said Abu Latefeh had been killed by police while resisting arrest.
“The incident occurred late last night when the Israeli army attempted to arrest two Palestinian activists accused of terrorism,” Israeli police spokesperson Luba Samri said in a statement. “One of the wanted men fled from Israeli army troops toward the roofs of the building, so army forces attempted to arrest the suspect by firing at the lower part of his body.”
Samri went on to allege that Abu Latefeh had died when he fell from a rooftop after having been shot in the legs while trying to escape Israeli police.
