Zahedan: Funeral Ceremony of Mawlana Ahmad Held

The funeral ceremony of the senior Iranian Sunni scholar, late Mawlana Ahmad Narui, has been held on 18 March 2014 in Zahedan, southeastern Iran.

“SunniOnline” reports tens of thousands took part in the funeral prayer of late Mawlana Ahmad from different backgrounds. According to an estimate, more than 80 thousand citizens from Zahedan and other cities and provinces of Iran reached to the grand Mosalla of Sunnis to offer the funeral prayer.

In the ceremony, Mawlana Abdol-Ghani Badri, Mufti Muhammad Qasem Qasemi, two senior teachers at Darululoom Zahedan and some representatives of the Sunni community in other provinces talked to the participants.

Mufti Qasemi indicated to some memories with the late teacher of Darululoom when they were students in Karachi (Pakistan) and their recent trip for Hajj. He said, “This world is mortal; it is not a place for everlasting inhabitance, rather it is an exam center and we will be examined several times. When I heard the news of this accident, I felt that I lost a half of my body.”

Shaikh Abdol-Hamid, the rector of Darululoom Zahedan, termed the sudden demise of Mawlana Ahmad, may Allah have mercy on him, a “big loss” that cannot be recovered but by the blessings and mercy of the Almighty.

He said, “In such situations, we do not forget the directions of the Noble Qur’an and Sunnah; when the prophet lost his 70 companions in Ohod, he showed patience. The grandson of the prophet, Hussein, also tolerated when he lost his comrades in Karbala and continued abidance and fight.”

Pointing out to some features of the late interim Khateeb of Sunnis in Zahedan, Shaikh-ul-Islam said, “Mawlana Ahmad was very resourceful and useful man; Allah Almighty bestowed him many special qualities. He dedicated his life for people; he was very subtle in resolving tribal disputes. He was on the path of temperance. The late Mawlana was analyzing current issues soberly and correctly; even he impressed many times high profile officials including ministers and presidents.”

Alluding to some details of the incident, he said, “Mawlana Ahmad went to his birthplace near Zahedan yesterday. His driver was busy, as he himself drove the car. Due to unknown reasons his car diverted from the main way while returning to Zahedan city. According to researches of some credible doctors at forensic pathology office, Mawlana Ahmad lost his life in the accident due to a stroke on his liver.”

Mawlana Ahmad Narui was the assistant of the rector of Darululoom Zahedan in administrative and financial affairs, and interim Khateeb and Imam of Sunnis in Zahedan. Besides, he was a senior Hadith and Fiqh teacher at Darululoom Zahedan. The late scholar was managing director of some branches of Darululoom like Aziziya Fund and Khadijat-ul-Kobra Medical Center in Zahedan.
The late teacher of Darululoom Zahedan got higher education in Badr-ul-Uloom Hammadiyah Rahimyarkhan, Darululoom Faisalabad (Punjab, Pakistan) and graduated from Jamia Farooqia Karachi in Pakistan. He was 50 years old.

The body of Mawlana Ahmad was shifted to ‘Bahesht-e-Muhammad’ graveyard of Zahedan for burial where Shaikh Abdol-Hamid made Du’a for full forgiveness of Mawlana Ahmad and patience of his family members and students.

It is notable, some provincial officials including the governor of Sistan-Baluchistan, representative of Ayatollah Khamenei in the province, provincial managers, members of the parliament and some judiciary officials took part in the funeral ceremony of Mawlana Ahmad. Many national scholars have issues statements expressing their condolence over the incident to Shaikh Abdol-Hamid and Sunni community of Iran.
