A twin car bomb blast in the southern city of Amara has killed at least four civilians and wounded 42 others.

The two car bombs exploded within an interval of 10 minutes on Tuesday, in a commercial area of the city located 300km south of Baghdad.
“The blast was very powerful and it caused massive damage to the parking lot and cars. It was a double blast and all the people rushed to the scene and this shows that they do not learn from previous blasts,” said a resident of the area.
In a separate attack, two car bombs went off in a parking lot in the city of Iskanadariyah, killing three and wounding 18 others.
A third car bomb detonated near a power plant in the southern city of Nasiriyah, killing three civilians and wounding 21.
Three medical officials confirmed the causality figures.
All officials spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorised to release the information.
More than 3,000 people have died in violence across Iraq in the last six months.
