14th Annual Competition of Sunni Students in Zahedan

Dozens of students from various Sunni seminaries of Sistan-Baluchistan participated in the 14th annual competition of discourses, essays, poetry and internal journals. It was held on Wednesday, 9 May 2012, which was continued till next day.

SunniOnline reported that the 14th annual provincial competition of students started its activities in the Grand Makki Masjid. It was organized by the administration of Darululoom Zahedan and the Coordination Council of Sunni Seminaries of the Sistan-Baluchistan province.

The participants delivered their discourses and essays in Arabic, Persian, Balochi and English languages. Besides, Islamic anasheed (songs), poetry and magazine journals of the seminaries were other parts of the competition.

Shaikh-ul-Islam Maulana Abdul-Hameed Ismaeelzahi talked to the students and their teachers in the inaugural program of the function. He underlined that such competitions are essential to develop and flourish talents of students who would be the leaders in future.

He pointed that mass-communication sources have been playing an important role across the globe. People utilize media sources for different causes; Islamic preachers and scholars must take the benefits of such tools to broadcast Islam’s glorious teachings.

The competition was held in two separate places; discourses and essays of Persian and Balochi languages were delivered in the first floor of the mosque while the competition of Arabic and English languages was in another floor.

Mufti Muhammad Qasem Qasemi, the Grand Mufti of Darululoom Zahedan and editor-in-chief of international Neday Islam magazine, addressed the audience in the final session of the competition function on Thursday after noon.

He urged saying that preaching Islam and calling people towards the right path is the duty of noble men. Scholars should be in direct contact with common people. They must not isolate themselves as religious scholars of Bukhara and Samarqand did; the communist Russians attacked their seminaries and holy places firstly before any other place.

Shaikh Qasemi called on the students to study history of Islam and Muslims carefully. Because of bad management of scholars 1.800.000 citizens of Baghdad, out of 2.500.000 population, were massacred in the sinister raid of Tatars. Scholars should be with people and their societies.

He stated more that mere speech is not enough. Besides, Khotabaa should pray to Allah and remember Him all the time.

At the end, names of the 14th round of annual competition were announced on Thursday afternoon. Awards and prizes were handed over to students who ranked first, second and third positions in different sections and languages.
