Sunnis’ Eleventh nationwide Qur’anic competition held in D.M Zahedan

Darululoom Zahedan- Three-day long eleventh national competition of Qur’an memorizers and reciters (Huffadh & Qurraa) has been held in the largest Sunni seminary in Iran, Darululoom Zahedan, Iran.

According to SunniOnline, dozens of Qur’an memorizers and reciters took part in the eleventh competition organized by the Sunni seminaries of Iran. The contests were begun on Tuesday morning, April 17, 2012. Three-day long contest continued its activities till Thursday morning, April 19, in Darululoom Zahedan.

Over 180 participants from the Sunni seminaries of Sistan-Baluchistan, Khorasan, Kurdistan and Hormozgan competed in two categories of memorizing and nice reciting of Holy Qur’an. Adult and bloom (immature) students contended in different stages.

In augural session, Mufti Muhammad Qasem Qasemi, director of Dar-ul-Ifta Darululoom Zahedan, presented some important and nice points about Holy Qur’an and necessity of purity (Ikhlas) advising reciters and memorizers of the Qur’an to avoid desires for money and fame.

While, the closing ceremony of the contest was held in the Grand Makki mosque, next to Darululoom Zahedan’s building, where Qari Muhammad Amin Asadi, a guest and member of jury panel, recited some verses in a very beautiful voice.

Shaikh-ul-Islam Maulana Abdul-Hameed, Khateeb of Ahl-us-Sunnah in Zahedan and the rector of Darululoom Zahedan, delivered an important discourse.

Shaikh applauded the organizers of the eleventh contest for enduring problems to organize such events. ‘Bearing difficulties in the path of Allah Almighty is so delightful! Purity (Ikhlas) is the soul of all works; so do whatever you must do for the sake of Allah to get His pleasure. I advise all Ulama and reciters to endure difficulties and always concentrate towards Allah,’ Maulana Ismaeelzahi underlined.

He further stated that Satan deceives people by various channels. Satan appears in dress of everyone to misguide him according his characters, status and ideas. It turns up in the dress of Molavi and Qari to cheat them by temptations like: “You are a great and excellent person! You can earn money and glory by leading Tarawih prayers!” So Islamic scholars, Qurraa and Huffadh should be discreet and vigilant.

The head of the Coordination Council of Sunni Seminaries in Sistan-Baluchistan declared Holy Qur’an the “greatest treasure” for Muslims if they bring its brilliant teachings into actions. By understanding Holy Qur’an and adopting it, Muslims can conquer the world and a high rank. Muslim men and women can not be real Muslims if they neglect to understand words and meanings of the Qur’an. Ignorant Muslims are like sea-foam.

Addressing scholars and reciters, Shaikh advised them to grab commands of the Qur’an and Sunnah strongly. The blessings of Islam and Islamic knowledge should not be used for worldly tools; scholars should perform their duties only to get Allah’s pleasure.

Maulana Abdul-Hameed further said, ‘Infidel and miscreant nations are “dead nations” because they are away from the blessings of Islam and knowledge. If any nation enjoys these two blessings without contraption, that nation can not be known a developed one.’

He recommended Islamic scholars and Qurraa to be creative-minded in their related fields like teaching. Contraption and talents should be utilized by teachers of the Qur’an. As well as they should utilize experiences of other experts.

At the end, Shaikh Ismaeelzahi suggested the organizers of the event to establish an independent office for holding such contests in a better way.

The ending session was finished by distribution of awards among the top winners who won first, second and third ranks. Finally, Shaikh Abd-ur-Rahman Mohebbi, a Hadith teacher at Darululoom Zahedan, offered conclusive prayer.
