Maulana Ab. Rauf Jangizahi passed away

Iran, Zahedan- An eminent Islamic scholar of Baluchistan, south-east Iran, Maulana Abd-ur-Rauf Jangizahi passed away in Yazd city on Friday, March 9, 2012.

Founder and ex-rector of “Farooqia” seminary, a famous Islamic institution in Zahedan, and Khateeb of Othmani Grand mosque of Zahedan was suffering from heart deceases. He was under treatment in a local hospital of Yazd city where he died at the age of 66.

Shaikh Abd-ur-Rauf was born in 1945 in “Paskuh” village of Sib-Sooran city, southern Iran. He got primary education in his village’s school. Then, he joined a reputed Islamic seminary, A’in-ul-Uloom Gosht, near Saravan city to learn Islamic studies. After two years, he went to “Sarju” village and got basic education from late Shaikh Shahdad Meskanzahi’s school.

He traveled to Pakistan for further education; initially he got admission in “Dar-ul-Huda”, located in Sukkur, Sindh. After two years, he made a trip to “Basti Molwian” seminary of late Shaikh Sharifullah Khan at Rahimyarkhan, south Punjab. Then he decided to join the prominent Islamic seminary of Pakistan, Darululoom Karachi, Korangi, and he got knowledge from eminent scholars like Mufti Taqi Usmani, late Maulana Shams-ul-Haq and Maulana Alam-ud-Deen Baloch. When “Jamia Farooqia Karachi” was established by Maulana Saleemullah Khan, Shaikh Jangizahi joined it where he studied for one year.

Shaikh Abd-ur-Rauf Jangizahi selected “Badr-ul-Uloom Hammadiya” of Rahimyarkhan for his final year. He studied Hadith from late Shaikh-ut-Tafseer Maulana Abdul Ghani Jajrawi and graduated from his seminary. Shaikh Abd-ur-Rauf joined “Tajweed-ul-Qur’an” seminary of Quetta where he studied Tajweed subject for a year from late Qari Ghulam-Nabi Baloch. He provided his services for the seminary as regulator as well.

With measures of knowledge obtained in many years of the age, he returned to his hometown. Due to some problems, he preferred to settle in Zahedan. Late Jangizahi founded “Farooqia” seminary and then “Othmani Grand Mosque” which are well-known in the city.

Tens of thousands include Islamic scholars from Khorasan, students and common Muslims took part in his funeral prayers that was held in the Grand Mosalla (Eid-gah) of Sunnis in Zahedan. May Allah place him in Paradise with Shuhada and Saliheen.
