Militants kill, injure 6 Afghan officers

At least six policemen have been killed or left injured when a bomber blew himself up near a police checkpoint in Afghanistan’s eastern Ghazni province. “A suicide bomber blew himself up next to a police checkpoint at around 8:30 a.m. local time in Mushaki area of Qarabagh district which has left six policemen dead or injured,” Xinhua quoted spokesman for provincial administration Mahruf Ayubi as saying on Wednesday.
The attack was also confirmed by spokesman for Afghanistan’s Interior Ministry Seddiq Seddiqi.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the attack.
Following the attack clashes erupted between the Taliban assailants and Afghan police.
According to sources, the gunfire is still going on.
On June 19, in a similar militant attack on a checkpoint in the same district three police officers were killed.
