‘Good training to children is the responsibility of parents’

Khateeb of Ahl-us-Sunnah in Zahedan, Shaikh Abdul Hameed talked about the importance of children’s upbringing in the light of the Qur’an and Sunnah in his latest Friday sermon in grand Makki mosque of Zahedan, Iran.
Shaikh began his speech by recitation of the verse: “يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آَمَنُوا قُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ وَأَهْلِيكُمْ نَارًا وَقُودُهَا النَّاسُ وَالْحِجَارَةُ عَلَيْهَا مَلَائِكَةٌ غِلَاظٌ شِدَادٌ لَا يَعْصُونَ اللَّهَ مَا أَمَرَهُمْ وَيَفْعَلُونَ مَا يُؤْمَرُونَ”،
[O you who believe! Ward off from yourselves and your families against a Fire (Hell) whose fuel is men and stones, over which are (appointed) angels stern (and) severe, who disobey not, (from executing) the Commands they receive from Allâh, but do that which they are commanded.] And said that in the above mentioned Qur’anic verse Allah Almighty has submitted the great responsibility of children’s upbringing to parents; Allah (swt) addresses us that rescue and protect yourselves plus your children and family from the fire of the Hell. The positive cultivation of children is obligation of parents.’
Talking to tens of thousand worshipers in grand Makki mosque of Zahedan, the prominent Shaikh more said that if parents nourish their issue according to the Islamic rules, they will get reward from Allah even after death. ‘If you get knowledge, build a mosque or cultivate your children so you will receive rewards after demise as well; these deeds are counted in “Sadaqaat Jariaat”, (running charities). As children pray for parents to Allah, parents should make du’a to Allah for their children as well that Allah may have mercy on them and forgive them,’ he added.
Mawlana Abdul Hameed further said that parents must choose good names for their children; they must avoid oddball and strange names which have no good meanings. When a child begins speaking, the first thing he/she should learn is the holy Kalimah Tayyibah.
He urged that ‘education’ is the best gift from parents for children. But children should not be admitted in proper schools before seven years of the age; before seven years they should play and enjoy their free life, but little and easy things they can learn and you can teach them. Because, the prophet Muhammad صلی الله علیه وسلم said that order your children to offer five-time prayers when they are seven years old.
‘Children are the best wealth of parents, bring them to good meetings, and send them to the informative and Islamic gatherings and centers. Do not waste this great wealth by allowing children to sit in bad companies. Otherwise, children will be the cause of your disgrace instead of respect and fame. Parents should be very vigilant in this regard. And when they reach to the age of marriage, parents must not postpone it, it is a very important and vital matter which requires the attention of parents,’ Shaikh continued.
Indicating towards the summer vacation of schools and colleges in Iran, he emphasized on the audience to utilize this opportunity, they should not waste their free time at home.
Shaikh ended his speech saying that the educational year of the Islamic seminaries would be over in the end of ongoing Islamic month, Rajab. The annual ceremony of Darululoom Zahedan in honor of new graduates will be held on Rajab, 27 in Zahedan which needs du’a and financial aid of people.
