Kurdish Sunni Scholar, Late Mullah Muhammad Rabee’i
rabieiThe prominent Kurdish Sunni scholar Mullah Muhammad Rabee’i (martyred) was born in 1932, in “Darasb” village of “Diwandarra” district, Kurdistan province of Iran.
He learnt holy Quran from his mother when he was 5. His father Mullah Abdul Hakeem and uncle Mullah Mahamouad were well-oriented religious scholars, as he got the basic Islamic education from them. Late Mullah Rabee’i traveled a lot for the further education to get the advantage of great Islamic teachers of Iran and Iraq.

Shaikh Rabee’i was fond of writing, as he began writing his daily memories and events in the shape of blank verse and prose poem when he was only 12 years old.
Late Mullah Rabee’i remained for along time with the prominent Islamic scholar, Shaikh Sayyed Alaauddin Husseini in “Qushqlaq Sefid” area of Diwandarra.
His talent impressed his teacher Shaikh Hussaini; he proposed his daughter Sughra’s hand to late Mullah Rabee’i and thus he got his first marriage. Shaikh has two sons and one daughter.

Journey of Pakistan:

Mullah Muhammad Rabee’i was a famous nice reciter of the holy Quran with a best sound.
In 1966 he took part in a worldwide Husn-e-Qira’at competition in Pakistan representing his country Iran. Along with the famous Qrai Shaikh Abdul Basit Abd-us-Samad (late) he got second position after Shaikh Mahamoud Al-Fakhri; 22 top well-sound Qurra participated in 1966’s international competition.

His cultural & religious activities:

After returning from the Pakistan journey, late Mullah Rabee’i launched a religions program in Kurdish state-run radio. Besides he taught Tajweed and Quranic studies in Emaad-ud-Dawlah and Ardabili School.
Shaikh Rabee’i served as a khateeb and imam too in the grand mosque in Kermanshah city till his martyrdom.
People with a large crowd participated his company and took his advice to resolve their problems; when he was khateeb the crowd stood on the roads at Friday prayers because of mass presence of thousands of worshipers in the grand mosque.
Mullah Rabee’i took part in the revolutionary movement against secular and dictator rulers along with his contemporary leaders like late Allama Ahmad Muftizada and Dr. Marbedi.

The books written by him:

Late Mullah Muhammad Rabee’i wrote many books and essays. He was fond of poetry as he has two complete poetical works, “Chahrfasl” (4000 verses) and “Ordibahisht”, which have not been published yet. His poems are in Arabic, Kurdish and Persian languages in various topics.
His first book “Aeenah-e-Islam” is so accepted by people. Late Shaikh Rabee’i has some more books such as “Al-Baqiat-us-Salihat” (8 volumes), “Maalikiyat dar Islam” and “Ishq-e-Payan Napazir”, all the books are in Persian.

His some literary works and religious services:

1- He wrote dozens of books and essays.
2- A set of speeches and sermons in cassettes.
3- Revival of the Kurdish language and culture.
4- Promotion of the right Islamic thoughts vs. innovations.
5- Collecting poems in three languages.
6- Establishment of a national Kurdish library.
7- Offering to eminent Islamic scholars of the region to teach in grand “Imam Shafe’i mosque”.
8-     Struggling for freedom of speech and opinion.
9-     Struggling against corruption and dictatorship.
10-   Establishment of a charity organization to help orphans, widows and needy people.

The incident of his martyrdom:

In December 1996 some unknown terrorist asphyxiated him at his home. He was 63 at that time. First the government declared his death the result of “heart failure”, but few years later it was proved that he was martyred along with some other scholars and intellectuals in a series of targeted killings.
May Allah accept his martyrdom and valuable services and place him in paradise. Ameen
