31 killed in N Afghanistan blast
afghan-bomb-blast-reutA massive explosion has rocked the northern province of Kunduz in Afghanistan, killing at least 31 people and injuring dozens of others.
The blast is said to be a bomb attack that “targeted a government department in Imam Sahib district, leaving several people dead and injured,” Xinhua quoted district governor Mohammad Ayub Haqyar as saying on Monday.

He also added that the blast took place in front of the Registration and Census department in the north of the war-torn country at noon time and possibly some 40 people were killed and injured.
A Taliban spokesman issued statement claiming the responsibility of the the attack saying, “A lager member of militia puppets who had been plundering the civilians and ransacking the area came to the recruiting department to get formerly enlisted as puppets when a lone Mujahid, Muhammad Dawood, got into this branch and blew up his explosive vest killing more than 30 militias and wounded a further 40. According to the reports from the area, all those killed were the ones wanting to be enlisted and become a formal member of militia.”
