Iran bans on Shaikh A.Hameed’s abroad travel
shaikh-abdolhameedZAHEDAN: The Iran government has banned on abroad travels of the leader of Sunni community of Iran and the head of Darululoom Zahedan University Shaikh Abdul Hameed.

The authorities restrained the passport of Shaikh Abdul Hameed in Tehran’s international airport, after his returning from the last trip to Turkey to participate in the conference of IUMS (the International Union for Muslim Scholars) in Istanbul .The conference was held to discuss the Israeli raid on “Freedom Flotilla”.
The authorities are supposed to be members of the Iranian Intelligence Ministry, but in the note handed over to Mawlana Abdul Hameed they referred to the sentence by the Special Court for Scholars.
It is worthy to mention that the Grand Shaikh Abdul Hameed is one of the most famous scholars and religious figures in the Islamic world, and his status and personality in the internal and external levels are known; as many invitations to participate in internal conferences and Islamic world have been sent to the great Sunni leader and he has participated in some of them as well.
Recently, the Muslim World League was conducted in Makkah al-Mukarram, Saudi Arabia, which is one of the most important and old Islamic organization in the world, it wanted to hold an international conference at 31th July, 19 Shabaan of the holy occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the date of its establishment and its activities, where a large group of intellectuals and prominent personalities of the Islamic world would take part in this conference.
MWL (Muslim World League) also invited the Shiite cleric Ayatullah Taskheeri, the chairman of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Sects of Iran as well as MWL has sent an official invitation to Shaikh Abdul Hameed to participate the conference; Mawlana Abdul Hameed is too much eager to participate the mentioned above gathering because he would find in this trip many valuable opportunities to visit the Holy places, Haramayn Sharifayn, and to meet great scholars and Islamic personalities. But Shaikh has been stopped to travel and participate in the conference by detaining his passport.
His Eminence in response to the question of “SunniOnline’s” correspondent about the reasons of his travel ban said, “I think there can not be any reason for this ban but narrow-mindedness and insularity, and not bearing the relationship of the Iran’s Sunnis and the Islamic world.”
