Red Cross aids Taliban in Afghanistan
afghan-talib2The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) says it has given first aid training to dozens of Taliban members in Afghanistan.

An ICRC statement said about 70 members of the armed militants were given first aid kits and basic aid training last month, the BBC reported.
“We treat and train people on the basis of medical necessity as an impartial organization, regardless of race or politics,” the statement read.
A spokesman for the humanitarian organization says that the training had been going on for some time to ensure that everyone is treated humanely.
A Press TV correspondent said that it is the first time that an international organization has provided basic aid training to the militant group.
The practice has reportedly drawn angry criticism from the Afghan government.
However, a NATO spokesman in Kabul said that the US-led alliance respects the humanitarian work.
Senior officials in the UK have floated the idea of making peace with the Taliban — the militant group whose uprooting was one the main objectives of the 2001 invasion.
