Importance of prayers in Islam
molana29Sheikh Abdul Hameed, imam of Friday prayers in Zahedan, after reciting the verse:
{وَأَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ طَرَفَيِ النَّهَارِ وَزُلَفًا مِنَ اللَّيْلِ إِنَّ الْحَسَنَاتِ يُذْهِبْنَ السَّيِّئَاتِ ذَلِكَ ذِكْرَى لِلذَّاكِرِينَ}
“And offer prayers regularly at the two sides of day and a part of night, the good deeds remove the evil deeds that is the word of remembrance”, pointed out the importance of prayers and asked the Gove to let Sunnis offer prayers freely in the state universities as well as in other public places and further he said: “I think that reforming of society is impossible without taking care of prayers. After reforming of beliefs the first important obligatory is prayer. The main reason of Muslim’s dispersions and separation which is experienced by the Muslim Ummah currently in various walks of life is the result of staying far a way from the holy Quran and Sunnah and the bright teachings of the holy Prophet (peace be upon him). As soon as the Muslims became far away from the lightly path of Prophet (PBUH) and his guided companions in terms of time, very soon  they got a huge difference in practical life too. Certainly Muslim Ummah has been suffering since that time from dispersion and differences and overcoming of their enemies and getting  control  over them like wolves get a control over it’s hunting.”

He further said: when a person offers prayer so the gates of Heaven are opened and the veil between him and his Lord revealed. In addition to its great reward from Almighty Allah the prayer, has positive effects in human life individually as well as collectively. The Prophet (peace be upon him) says: “Order your children to offer prayers when they are seven years and beat them when they are ten years.” Therefore as the parents are interested in worldly education for their children they must pay a great importance their prayers also.
Maulana Abdul Hameed quoted from “Imam Shah Waliullah Dihlawi” who says: “Each obedience ordered by God like prayers, Zakat (alms giving) and fasting has in its side Nawafel (redundant), and these nawafel are not less important than the obligatory prayers. No one is allowed to forbid some one from performing them except three forbidden times.”
Sheikh Abdul Hameed went on and said, “The Friday prayer is an obligation (Fardh-e-Ain), it plays an important role to reform the Muslim Ummah time and again. And a Friday prayer to next Friday is expiation for their sins between them. It is unfortunate that some people go out for walking and refreshment on Friday and do not offer Friday prayers. Outing is not haram (illegal) they can enjoy but they must not leave prayers for it.”
Sheikh Abdul Hameed asked the officials to advise the Sunnis about prayers and said, “They must be given free hand and permission for each person in the case of offering prayers. An official man who prevents others from offering prayers in universities does not have religion, or knowledge of the Lord, and imposing every one to offer prayers behind a person (which belongs to another doctrine) is complete ignorance. A Shiite must not be compelled to offer prayers behind of a Sunni Muslim and the Sunnis must not be compelled to offer prayers behind the Shiites; every person is allowed to offer the prayers behind one who is willing and jurisprudent which he belongs to that.
The Friday prayers had been held from thirty years in “Kerman” city and now it shut down; what is the interest of this for Islam and Muslims? As well as in other cities such as Isfahan and Yazd, he asked.
Sheikh further said, “I say to the officials of the country and the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenehi and I ask them to give us free hand to offer prayers in every place, and this is the legitimate right of us in terms of the Constitution to be free in offering Friday prayers as well to offer with congregation. The most important concern of the Sunni community in Iran is intrusion of some elements in their jurisprudence, we do not feel any problem in terms of the Constitution, but there is the realization of the view and the tyranny of tags by extremist elements in some areas where Sunnis are minority, which has increased our concern and worries.”
He added, “We also ask for achieving freedom in the education department; as the worldly education in universities has complete freedom the religious education must also be given the same freedom. Every one must be free to education, and they would have the right for their children education.”
Sheikh-ul-Islam Maulana Abdul Hameed went on that the reprehensive of Walee Faqeeh has prevented in one city Sunni community from Friday prayers, where Sunnis are not in majority, they wanted to offer Friday prayers; but the representative of Ayatollah Khamenehi declined and said that you (Sunnis) have to follow me in prayers.
Denouncing the discourse of these negative practices, he said that by law and sharia the right of offering prayers with congregation is permitted to those Sunnis who want to establish an independent congregation or Friday prayers in any area of the country?
In the end, Sheikh noted the phenomenon of “kidnapping for ransom” and said that the region has not seen in the past such heinous acts of hostage-taking and abduction of people, we do not know from where this tumult and phenomenon came? There is no doubt in the absurdity and horror of this phenomenon; it is neither permitted in law nor any wisdom does it. As well as it is not the way to abduct persons for achieving their rights or demanding financial compensation.
We do not know which thing convince them to do such acts and to destroy this world as well as their hereafter life.
Sheikh said at the end, “There are two basic things in life: peace and demanding rights; asking for rights should be legitimately and under the Constitution. And initiate all of the academics, politicians and tribal chiefs have to demand their claims in legal methods.”
