Sheikh Abdul Hameed, (Imam and Friday khateeb of Sunnis in Zahedan) referring to the anniversary of the Holy Prophet said: “There are many reasons for misguidance of different sects like Christians went on the wrong path, one of that reasons is to give excess respect to the birthday of great personalities and to consider these actions causes of success. In fact, the success depends to follow them, especially submission of biography and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). These great personalities, the prophets and saints were not born to be celebrated their birthdays, but they carried out the messages to the world, such great elements are the reasons for survival of humans and it can save us from eternal destruction, so we must follow their careers.”
Shaikh Abdul Hameed went on and said that some people argue that Islam was spread by the sword in the world, but the fact is that, Islam was spread by the hard work of the Sahabas and their morals in the major parts of the world. The lives of the companions were well clad of the best acts and ethics which were the causes of their victory and in this way Islam was spread in the world. There was not any slogan as well as propaganda in the life of Sahaba, but act, loyalty and piety and friendship were filled all aspects of their lives. We can say that such things helped them in spreading Islam in the world.
The Grand Sheikh Abdul Hamid added: “The propaganda and exploitation have increased now a days, but there is no work, we have been destroyed by weakness and vulnerability in the practical dimension, and we left many aspects of the Qur’an, the Quran became abandoned among us, Muslims have great wealth if they adhered it, they would be respected in this world as well as at the day of judgment.”
Regarding to unity as it was one the most important purpose of the prophet mission, Imam of Makki mosque said that the Prophet (peace be upon him) was the Messenger of the unity, before His prophetic mission, people were in ignorance, and the Arab tribes would fight among themselves, the states of Iran and the West (Room) had been in conflict for many years. The war between the tribes of Aws and Khazraj (two tribes of Arabs in Madina) used to continue for decades, ignorance and idol worship seized the Arabian Peninsula. However, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) was sent out with the teachings of Islam, he removed the roots of these wars and raised the security crisis, he united the Arab tribes by espousing adherence to Islam and its teachings and culture, as Almighty God said: “And remember God’s grace upon you, when you were enemies among your hearts, due to His bless you became brothers.” Romans and Persians inclined towards Islam and different nations accepted the natural religion of God with diverse cultures more over the unity and the love dominated the whole world.
He further said that the Prophet (peace be upon him) succeeded to unite the nations and masses by good thinking, management, expertise and open-minded, the Prophet (peace be upon him) tried to reform the people’s habits and the societies traditions, thus their lives and habits became according to Islam. The Holy prophet did not fight against their traditions, he did not alter the dress, he did not impel them to accept Arabic language besides their languages; because of such glorious thinking and hard working, many nations came under the banner of Islam. And it has taken care of followers of other religions like Judaism and Christianity, and they would enjoy freedom under Islam kingdom, only they had to pay tax (jezyah). Everyone admitted the mandate of the Prophet peace be upon him, and everyone was feeling of solidarity and cooperation and brotherhood in the light of Islam.
Shaikh pointed to the need for unity in the present era between the various sects and said: “The need for unity in our time has been being felt by all the Islamic sects, Muslims of all sects and their publics, Sunnis and Shiites need unity and harmony, and they need of peaceful coexistence among them. The progress of our country asked people that they should have a broad-mindedness and intellectual maturity, and there would be no abuse to the sanctities and beliefs.”
Shaikh urged that the Sahabas should not be abused in our countries, who are stars of guidance in the Islamic world.
Aayesha Siddiqah, Talha and Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them) were the first who had accompanied the Prophet peace be upon him in good times and bad, and his companions are the milestones to know the truth and they are the ideals to be followed. The fights that took place among them were emitted from the reasoning, and God willing each one of the two teams receive reward of his Ejtihaad.
Shaikh went on: “I warn and deter the government TV and the media, Sunni and Shiite people to stop blaspheme and humiliation of the sects. We have come to know that some blaspheme books were given to Sunni students in universities; we call on the responsible officials to take notice of such actions. The government should be alert of such issues and take action, especially in Sunni areas, where some elements involved in abusing our beliefs.”
Shaikh Abdul Hameed pointed to the need of freedom for Sunnis and said that the religious freedom is an important issue which should be provided by senior officials and the supreme leader Ayatullah Khamenehi, there must not be interference in our religious affairs, meanwhile, we do not mean that there should not be legal act against a person abuses Shiite sect, but when the Sunnis want to glorify their ancestors and to express their beliefs, or they want to build a mosque in any area of the country or in Tehran, which is the capital of the country and a region where Sunnis haunt a lot, so must not be any objection to build a mosque over there.
He added: “The Sunnis should defend their homeland and its independence and sovereignty of their land, so should not be reluctant to employ them. We hope the Supreme Leader Khamenehi takes initiative step for resolution of this issue which has been cause of concern of the Sunnis for more than thirty years.”
Shaikh referred to the lack of feasibility of holding seminars for unity and said: “We believe that seminars and conferences are limited to the slogans for unity, we do not see their usefulness and we see no positive results, the era of chanting slogans has passed and it’s time to work on our sayings; So the government should come out from the chants and progress towards slogans in order to serve the nation. We also will seek as our energy in prevention of abuse to the Shiites. Any state or country must not to have a discriminatory treatment of minorities, or to deprive them of their legitimate rights. We propose in order to bring unity and convergence that the option of “Sunnis” and “Shiite” on the forms of employment should be removed and they should be employed on the base of “Islam”, this distinction smell sectarian and sectarianism.
