Shaikh Abdul Hameed, Imam and preacher of Friday prayer of Sunnis in Zahedan has indicated in his sermon (which was delivered before tens of thousands of worshipers at Makki masjid) to wards some extremists and offensive sites which are so active against the Sunni community and controversial sectarian sources and said that extremist Shiites have been enjoying full freedom of speech to accuse Sunnis in Iran; he demandedthe judicial authorities to address such activities.
He added, “certainly the journalists deserve a lot of thanks and appreciation in the current circumstances; because of their hard works and sacrifices for spreading out news in different areas, as it is demanded by the masses, thus journalists should revise their basic lesson and do their work with trust and honesty and publish those news which have happened and serve the public with confirmed and correct broadcasting or publishing.”
The grand Shaikh more said, “Really it is a great service of any society to provide them the truth and fact, but those journalists who cross red lines and spread out the false news and work out of the line, they deserve punishment of Almighty Allah, as well as the penalty of government. It can be accepted that a person broadcasts news but after investigation it comes out that the news was wrong so such journalists can get forgiveness, but those who deliberately spread out lies and rumors, they should know that they can face the punishment of Allah.
Unfortunately, there are various types of sites direct charges and abuses to people for political purposes. These people blackened their faces in this world and the Hereafter before God Almighty.”
The khateeb of grand Makki masjid of Zahedan urged, “I call on local authorities to stop those who work in these fields, because they harm and disturb unity and convergence, and they are threatening atmosphere for access to their political benefits, as many time they targeted Sunni religious schools and insult to the Sunni scholars as well as insult our sanctifies.”
Insisting the security authorities respected Shaikh further said: “if they do not ensure to prohibit such extremist Sites, I think they refuse their responsibility. In fact the freedom of speech is the right of every human being recognized in every part of the world including the text of the Iranian Constitution, we are also protectors of this premise, but a person or community should not be allowed to abuse, accuse and stigmas of others under the pretext of Freedom of speech.
Mawlana Abdul Hameed more added that some people misuse our dignity and generosity and allege baseless charges on us. Some representatives of the Majlis (parliament) accuse charges and slanders from the tribune of national parliament, but because of our dignity and our honor still we have been silent on these accuses. We know very well how they won the seat of representatives of the Council. They got ‘nightly’ votes to gain access to the Council; people know the reality of such votes very well.
“Is it sin to say the right word, or to express the fact and to call the government including public to have fairness and equality between the clans and sects? Whoever does not be ready to listen & accept these facts, so they do not have the tolerance at all. We raise our national issues only from the tribune of Makki masjid in order to install and maintain peace and unity; Grand Makki masjid is a forum against the system as some representatives accused in the Iranian parliament,” He pointed.
The great Shaikh expressed the main roots of Sunnis problems which are caused by some extremists who oversee sites, journals and blogs and claim allegiance to the system and more said, “With regret the origins of some of our problems return to some journals, websites and blogs of Shiite extremists in the region. They counted themselves as protectors of the government and write on the titles of their weekly journals: “Fitna is worse than murder” and then put on its side pictures of our mosques and some photos of the annual gathering of Darululoom Zahedan on the occasion of honoring the graduates; then talk about sedition, it is not a fresh phenomenon, but it happened few years ago as well.
Unfortunately, no one prevents them from such acts. The perpetrators of these websites and supervisors on these journals are sure that they are not blamed or held accountable for their actions. If they are not assured they would not do such acts. These have destroyed the atmosphere of our province. Baluchis, Zabolis, Yazdis, Shiites and Sunnis have been living for a long time side by side in this province without facing any problem or neither sectarian disturbance have occurred here, nor any other difference and conflict took place in the past. Who wants to create difference between them? Why the enemy found opportunity to differentiate them in these days? What is the cause of disputes between sects and clans in the region?
Yes! Our enemies realized that there is a gap between different clans, it became opportunity for them.
Unfortunately, some elements inflate on the fire of hypocrisy and differentiation. This is not logic and rationality.
We call on officials and security authorities in the province to stop them. And everyone has to draw the steps in the region towards unity and brotherhood and to examine the causes and factors of the problem.
I say frankly, as the actions of Sunni extremists are not services to the Sunnis as well as Shia extremists do not serve the Shiites.”
He added, “The official website of the Sunni community of Iran (SunniOnline) has been blocked inside Iran, however strongly we are watching what is published and we practice self-censorship in order to avoid from making some one disturbed.”
The imam of the largest Sunni masjid further said, “We do not allow Sunnis to offend the Shiite through their websites and web pages, in turn, we hope no one should be allowed in the country to hurt Sunnis and their sanctity. We hope the officials and security authorities in the province they will do their duty. Our silence does not mean that we do not know the truth. We reserve all of these documents and we will submit them to the Leader of the Revolution in a timely manner, we will do it God willing.”
The Friday preacher of Sunnis in Zahedan added, “Few months ago a satellite TV channel was launched, since that time it has been abusing and blaspheming too much Sunnis. I noticed at the time that if this channel would not banned, surely many other offensive TV channels would come out to exist to address sectarianism and inciting sedition, sectarian, but none took my talk seriously and dozens of satellite TV channels opened depicting the holy people of Sunnis. And now also I warn that if such sites and web pages are not banned lawfully, certainly we will see other offensive sites, and they will prejudice to the friendly atmosphere of our province. However we need unity and solidarity.”
In another part of his sermon Shaikh Abdul Hameed recited a verse from the Holy Qur’an: “ياأيها الذين آمنوا كتب عليكم الصيام كما كتب على الذين من قبلكم لعلكم تتقون” and explained the importance of Zakat and Sawm (fasting) in Islam saying that these all are orders of Almighty Allah and He obviously orders us to do it. These great worships affect our lives positively and we get spiritual benefits. There are many logic and rational behind of paying Zakat and observing fast. These orders help every Muslim to reform him or herself and to be an ideal Muslim who follows all divine orders.
He urged that Allah is the owner of Paradise and hell as well. We must know if Allah forgives and he is merciful so there is no doubt that He is very powerful an avenger also.
“Self which is the bulwark of Satan, it would destroyed by keeping fast (sawm) in Ramdhan. As well as in this great month every body should help needy and poor persons financially; especially at breaking fast (Eftar) you should not forget neighbors, poor and table lines of mosques,” He more added.
At the end Shaikh advised the residents of Zahedan to stay in the city and offer Taraweeh properly.
