The rector of Darululoom Zahedan pointed out to important points about the curriculum of Islamic seminaries in the Indian sub-continent and their followers in Iran and other countries.
Mawlana Abdol-Hamid was talking to the teachers and students of the Specialization Courses and Higher Education Section of Darululoom in the inauguration ceremony of 2017-18 academic year inside the Grand Makki Masjid.
He said: “We suffer from some problems in the curriculum of Dars-e-Nizami; there are some subjects and lessons which should be removed.”
“Serving Islam and defending this religion should be with the modern language. We should talk in the language of our ‘nation’ as the Qur’an suggests; they are our contemporaries,” Shaikh Isma’eelzahi added more.
He pointed: “Today Mu’tazila and Khawarij of the past do not exist; we see modern Khawarij and Mu’tazila now. There should be a revision in the creed subjects.”
“We should be aware of the latest expressions of the people. Do not hide the facts; know the suspicions of the new generation. We should know the suspicions of socialists, communists, extremists and newly-born sects and answer them objectively,” the rector of Darululoom Zahedan made it clear.
He further said: “It is a weakness for us that we do not have specialization classes in the four juridical sects, Shiism and other religions.”
Expressing his views about the method of teaching in Islamic seminaries, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid said: “Unlike universities, we focus on books more than the pertinent science and subject. The struggle is divided to make understand the text of the books and science. Clarifying the text of books boosts the abilities of students.”
“I think in the section of higher education and specialization the focus should be on teaching science not books.”
He also said: “Maintain unity and fraternity but you can study on religions and sects, especially the ones who live around us. We should have information about them.”
