A meeting for new Sunni students of Zahedan’s universities was held in Darululoom Zahedan in presence of about 800 male and female students.
“SunniOnline” reported the annual introduction meeting with new students of the Sunni community of Zahedan’s universities had been organized to approximate students and teachers of seminaries and modern universities. It intends to introduce Islamic scholars of the city to new students who join different educational institutions of Zahedan each academic year; it enables them to ask their questions and share views easily.
The introduction gathering started its activities after Maghreb prayers on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012 by recitation of the Noble Qur’an by a student. Then Mufti Muhammad Qasem Qasemi, eminent teacher at Darululoom Zahedan, talked to the audience.
He explained the importance of knowledge saying the initial verses revealed upon the Last Messenger, peace & blessings be upon him, were about reading and seeking knowledge; it happened in a society where sword, fighting and massacre were topical issues. Wahy, afflatus, was begun by “Iqra”, read! to prove the higher status of knowledge in Islam.
The editor-in-chief of “Neday Islam” international magazine further said, “Exalted Allah mentioned the word “Iqra” twice in the chapter ‘Alaq to underline importance of reading; it must be maintained. According to a holy verse, prophet Ibrahim, peace be upon him, was praying to Allah for messengers who would read and recite His verses; it shows the human life is connected with learning and reading. Without education mankind has no any status.”
Expounding the fifth verse of Sourah al-Alaq, he stated the verse contains a vast meaning. Allah says: “He taught man what he did not know.” It includes all sorts of knowledge and sciences such as physics, chemistry, medicine, architecture and all religious sciences. The verse also proves that mankind has capability of learning and its sources.
Hadith teacher of Darululoom Zahedan added more, “The world is wealthy in the field of science and knowledge; despite it, there are many financial, social and even political crises. It is just due to distance of knowledge from the name of Allah and lack of Taqwa, piety, that scientists misuse their knowledge.”
In another part of his speech, the prominent Islamic scholar advised the students to reform their aims and intentions; they must get education to serve the nation preserving Islamic values. Obtaining a certificate should not be the only goal of students; rather they should struggle to gain proficiency and specialization.
At the end, Shaikh Qasemi urged students to never neglect few points: 1. Struggle; 2. Du’a, praying; 3. Recognition of weak points and efforts to reform them; 4. Studying biography of prominent dignitaries; 5. Plan for daily routine.
Future means ‘future of the both worlds’
Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hameed, the outstanding Sunni leader, presented a brief discourse at the introduction meeting inside Darululoom Zahedan.
Talking about what students can bring for a better future, he said, “When we say “future” it embraces both, the mortal world and the eternal Hereafter. Students who have piety and fear of Allah plus knowledge can make an ideal future for themselves and the society.”
Khateeb of Ahl-us-Sunnah added more saying sane people work hard for their future of the both lives as well as society. Gomeral people only see this finite world as the Noble Qur’an clarifies: «کلّا بل تحبون العاجلة و تذرون الآخره», (Never, (O men!) but you love the fleeting life, and neglect the Hereafter.) [75: 20-21]
Giving the example of prophet Yousuf, peace be upon him, the rector of Darululoom Zahedan said, “Prophet Yousuf, peace be upon him, was sold as a slave in Egypt; but he had two features which made him king of Egypt, honesty/piety and knowledge.”
Member of the IUMS addressed students of universities saying, “Revive Islamic moral codes and customs inside university; create an Islamic environment over there. Offer five-time prayers in congregation. Be vigilant over false tendencies and views which may lead you away from the Islamic values.”
At the end of his sermon, Shaikh Ismaeelzahi underlined a real Muslim always obeys Allah’s commands and orders. Students should have link with the Qur’an and Sunnah, they can easily develop their information and knowledge on Islam by reading Islamic books to get protection from massive Western propagandas.
