IRAN, Baluchistan- Offending of Shaikh Abdul Hameed Ismaeelzahi, Khateeb of Ahl-us-Sunnah in Zahedan, in a state-held meeting in Khash brought up a perfect storm of castigation that had encompassed Sistan-Baluchistan province in recent days.
Receiving reports suggest that prominent Sunni Khotabaa and Friday imams in the province reprehended the insulting statements of some security officials in a conspiratorial meeting. Some days ago, the provincial authorities held a meeting in “Guidance Hall” where the deputy of the Intelligence Ministry tried to prove ‘Shaikh Abdul Hameed leads an anti-state movement’! The sectarian and offensive words of the official man had a painful consequence for the authorities.
Following that, people from various aspects of life including Islamic scholars, professors, teachers, students, tribal elders and young activists of Sistan-Baluchistan castigated the hateful affirmations of the security officials. Later on, Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdul Hameed clarified the facts about the Grand Makki mosque and Darululoom Zahedan. He strived to calm down people and forbad the officials from such blunders in the sensitive area of Sistan-Baluchistan.
What have the Sunni scholars said in this regard? The compendium of their statements is as following:
‘Shaikh Abdul Hameed; the most sympathetic person’
Shaikh Muhammad Dehqan, Friday Khateeb in Gosht city responded to the recent insults saying, ‘We all know well that there is no one more sympathetic than Shaikh Abdul Hameed for the nation and country. Others are not like him, may Allah protect him from seditions of fire-eaters.’
Shaikh Dehqan underlined saying, ‘We announce our full support to Shaikh Abdul Hameed. We consider such offences (that took place in Khash) sinister and seditious. Strangers and the enemies of Islamic unity make such efforts.’
‘Holders of these nefarious meetings are enemies of Islam, regime and country’
Shaikh Habib-ur-Rahman, Khateeb of “Dehpabid” and head of the Islamic seminary of “Kahnuk,” a town between Khash and Zahedan, declared the inciters of sectarianism the enemies of the regime and Islam.
He castigated the flouting words about Darululoom Zahedan, the largest Sunni seminary in Iran, saying, ‘The week of unity is before us and we are in the days of the revolution’s victory. The revolution is a blessing of Allah and He examines us by gifting and taking back of His blessings.’
Shaikh Habib-ur-Rahman addressed the Iranian officials calling them to take lesson from the admonitory upshots of Tunis, Libya, Egypt and Yemen. ‘Rulers of these countries did not respond to voices of their people on time; so they took to streets chanting Allah-u-Akbar. Allah Exalted ousted the tyrants and that’s the end of despotism and injustice,’ he pointed.
Khateeb of Dehpabid indicated towards the Khash flouting meeting and said that Shaikh Abdul Hameed was targeted in the meeting by an unknown person; though, he always struggles to maintain peace and solidarity in the region. He advises the nation and regime and has sympathy for all more than any other one.
He declared the meeting that was held by appeal of governor of Khash ”insulting” and urged that involved persons in the gathering are enemies of the country and Islam. He pointed that those efforts were made to intensify pressures on Sunnis to accept the state-run Planning Council for Sunni seminaries that has been refused by most of Sunni scholars. But Sunnis of Iran never hand over their seminaries and mosques to any government.
Shaikh M. Tayyeb Mullazahi: Shaikh Abdul Hameed is our religious leader
Khateeb of Ahl-us-Sunnah in Iranshahr city, Shaikh Muhammad Tayyeb Mullazahi, censured the insult of Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdul Hameed and emphasized saying that he is the religious leader and guider of the Sunni community in Iran. Sunnis have been living for decades peacefully along with their Shiite compatriots in the province.
He went on to say, ‘As we respect the supreme leader, we respect Shaikh Abdul Hameed Ismaeelzahi as well; we believe his presence is very important and necessary.’
‘The current situation of the region is prone to insecurity; nevertheless, some elements carry out provocative and sectarian activities. They insult the Grand Makki mosque and other holy places vilifying the responsible of unity, solidarity and demanding due rights of compatriots,’ Shaikh Mullazahi stated.
‘Shaikh Ismaeelzahi strives to develop the Iranian nation’
Shaikh Abd-ur-Raheem Baloch Lashari, Khateeb of the grand mosque in “Khairabad Bampour” said in his Friday speech that Shaikh Abdul Hameed is well-wisher and mentor of the Iranian nation.
Indicating towards Shaikh’s instructive services in different fields, he pointed, ‘Shaikh Ismaeelzahi’s activities for the betterment of both Shias and Sunnis are applaud able. We respect Shiite seminaries, mosques and their religious scholars, we expect Shias to respect our religious places and scholars specially Shaikh Abdul Hameed Ismaeelzahi as well. He is de facto leader of us who has taken serious steps to strengthen the pillars of unification and fraternity in the region. Shaikh Abdul Hameed is one of the causes of glory for the beloved country.’
Khateeb of Khairabad Bampour underlined saying that all demands of Shaikh Ismaeelzahi are in the circle of the constitution and benignity for the entire nation. This is a lucid reality which has been proved in the province and other areas when some bad incidents took place. Everyone must respect such dignitaries and realize the susceptibility of the circumstances. The nation needs unity more than any other time.
‘Blasphemy of religious places, scholars and beliefs must be stopped’
Khateeb of the grand Nour mosque in Bampour city, Shaikh Muhammad Akbar Barahui, declared ”sectarian violence” the goal of enemies and said, ‘The enemies of Muslims know well that the key of their prosperity is their unity and solidarity. Sectarianism is the first step of their failure. The sensitivity of the matter requires our carefulness and vigilance.’
Shaikh Barahui added more saying that Sunnis are determined to respect Shiite scholars and their outstanding personalities. For the sake of country’s protection, consideration of the causes of protection is essential. In the same way, Sunni citizens want other compatriots to respect their scholars particularly Shaikh Abdul Hameed, may Allah protect him, the head of the Coordination Council of Sunni Seminaries in the Sistan-Baluchistan province. All must respect holy places, mosques and seminaries, these sacred places have a great status in the hearts of people.
‘Shaikh Abdul Hameed’s activities are on the path of Islamic unity’
Mawlana Muhammad Gul Karamzai, Khateeb of Muhammdi mosque in “Muhammadabad” town of Khash put the activities of Shaikh Abdul Hameed on the path of Islamic unity and said, ‘It is very regrettable that some elements can not withstand the unity of Muslim Ummah. As we saw in the Khash meeting, a person offended Shaikh Abdul Hameed, the greatest Islamic scholar of Sunnis in Iran. The participator scholars responded to his baseless blames wisely.’
Shaikh Karamzai addressed the audience and said, ‘You are aware of the personality of Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdul Hameed. I am student of Shaikh Abdul Hameed; I swear to Allah Almighty that when we graduated, it was one of his most important advices for us to be preachers of unity and to not insult any one. Shaikh demands the legal and due rights of Ahl-us-Sunnah and continues demanding them.’
The senior teacher at “Makhzan-ul-Uloom” Khash seminary further said that it is contrary to the responsibilities of the Intelligence Ministry to insult the Grand Makki mosque and Shaikh Abdul Hameed. This department should work hard to maintain stability and peace in the country.
‘We hope the higher rulers do not allow any one to create sectarian disputes between Shias and Sunnis,’ he concluded his points.
Sh. Abd-ur-Rasheed: Unity must be in acts not only in slogans
Shaikh Abd-ur-Rasheed Shahnawazi, Khateeb of the Grand Touba mosque in Khash recited some verses of Holy Qur’an over the importance of Muslims’ unity.
He stated that unity and solidarity mean to oust all bad feelings like enmity and spite from hearts. As two Arab tribes, Aws and Khazraj had a battle for years, after embracing Islam they became brothers spurning all sorts of enmities.
Shaikh Shahnawazi urged saying that real unity does not limit in slogans. The founder of the revolution named a week in the country ‘Week of Unity’. The Supreme Leader as well put the sacred of both Shias and Sunnis ”red lines” for each one.
‘Despite orders and advices of the founder of the revolution, Ayatollah Khomeini, and Ayatollah Khamenehi about unity and respecting Muslims’ beliefs and sacred, some short-sighted and sinister people blaspheme Sunnis’ holy places, Islamic scholars, mosques, seminaries and the centers for preaching. In fact, they resist decrees of their leaders and scholars,’ he pointed.
Shaikh Abd-ur-Rasheed added more, ‘As we do not allow any one to blaspheme Shias’ sacred, we can not remain silent over insulting of Ahl-us-Sunnah’s sacred.’
‘Shaikh Abdul Hameed is the spokesman of Ahl-us-Sunnah’
Khateeb of Ahl-us-Sunnah in “Raask” city, Shaikh Naqshbandi, quoted a Qur’anic verse saying that one of the biggest sins is vilifying and blaming clean-handed people specially Islamic scholars. Reasoning some sayings of Holy prophet, peace & blessings be upon him, he declared blaspheming Islamic scholars the most manifested mark of hypocrites.
He stated that unity among Muslims is very vital; thus, some elements insult Islamic scholars. They are aware of this fact that they can not accomplish their campaigns until Islamic scholars have influence among people.
Then, Shaikh Naqshbandi pointed out to the flouting meeting of Khash and said, ‘Regretfully, fanatic and intrigants succeeded to infiltrate in official departments, they try to spread sectarian violence. In Khash meeting, a person who claimed to be a security expert blasphemed the greatest Sunni seminary and the most honorable and influential Sunni leader. The man relied on the words of an unknown prisoner.’
Khateeb of Raask announced his solidarity with Shaikh Abdul Hameed and the Grand Makki mosque, saying that the Grand Makki mosque is the biggest Sunni center in Iran. All notable scholars have announced their loyalty and solidarity with Shaikh Abdul Hameed, may Allah protect him. There is no difference that Shaikh Ismaeelzahi is the spokesman of Ahl-us-Sunnah. He propounds the demands of the Sunni community and conveys them to rulers.
He emphasized stating, ‘I would like to make it clear for the government that the above-mentioned issue is not limited to Shaikh Abdul Hameed Ismaeelzahi, rather it appertains to all Sunni Muslims. Residents of Raask demand rulers to impede such short-sighted elements from intensifying the situation.’
‘We support and love Shaikh Abdul Hameed’
Imam and Khateeb of ”Bakhshan,” Shaikh Hafeedhullah Raeesi, indicated to insulting gathering in Khash and said, ‘Our nation supports Islamic scholars. Representating people of ”Saravan” city, we reprehend the insulting meeting held in Khash supporting Shaikh Ismaeelzahi always.’
Sh. Jahandide: Insulting Sunnis’ scholars creates crises & tensions
Shaikh Abdul Hameed Jahandide, Khateeb of Sunnis in Saravan city, expressed what had taken place in Khash in his Friday speech. After that, he urged saying the Grand Makki mosque and Darululoom Zahedan do not belong only to Shaikh Abdul Hameed Ismaeelzahi; rather, they appertain to the entire Sunni community, particularly people of Baluchistan. Shaikh Ismaeelzahi belongs to all Sunni Muslims, as well.
‘In the current situation of the country, such insults to Sunnis’ scholars and sacred just intensify the problems and create more crises and tensions,’ he pointed.
Shaikh Jahandide advised the audience to support their leaders and scholars always and defend them, as he announced his solidarity with Shaikh Abdul Hameed Ismaeelzahi, the Grand Makki mosque and Darululoom Zahedan.
‘Sectarianism jeopardizes the fate of regime’
Imam and Khateeb of “Hussein Grand mosque” of Khash, Shaikh Abdul Wahed Rigi put sectarianism and fanatic elements an open danger for the regime and country.
‘The blunder of some authorities in Khash hurt religious feelings of people in Khash and Sunnis of Iran. It is a serious danger for the country, such sinister elements put the country at stake by their wrong and nefarious statements,’ he urged.
Shaikh Rigi said that insight is one of the most important necessities of ruling. Rulers must behave justly without any discrimination.
He called the audience to have patience over such incidents emphasizing that Sunnis do not neglect their religious rights and would follow up their affairs.
‘Insulting Sh. Ab. Hameed & Grand Makki is blasphemy of all Sunnis’
Shaikh Muhammad Yousuf Faezi, Khateeb of the Grand Siddiqi Mosque in the costal city of “Konarak” castigated hateful statements of the deputy of the Intelligence Ministry, putting insult of Shaikh Abdul Hameed and the Grand Makki mosque blasphemy of all Sunni seminaries and scholars.
‘It is forbidden to insult other religions; we condemn flouting of Shaikh Abdul Hameed and the Grand Makki mosque. Such statements harm religious unity and it is the forepart of sectarianism,’ he added more.
Khateeb of “Nikshahr”: Sh. Ab. Hameed has beneficial activities in the region
Imam and Khateeb of Nikshahr city, Shaikh Abdullah Wahidifar, declared spreading Islamic and Qur’anic culture in the region the most notable activities of Shaikh Abdul Hameed Ismaeelzahi.
Shaikh Wahidifar said, ‘People should be in contact with scholars and activists of Islamic preaching. They must be supported. This is the corner stone of their success and prosperity. If common people remain away of Islamic scholars and their methods, they will only earn regret.’
He further said that Shaikh Abdul Hameed has been striving to spread Islamic sciences in the region; other scholars should follow him step by step in this field.
Khateeb of Konarak asked the officials to open their eyes and widen their hearts permitting Ahl-us-Sunnah to enjoy freedom and independence in their educational and religious affairs. He said that the religion is the most worthwhile thing for us. Insulting the companions particularly the mothers of believers hurts Sunnis’ feelings.
‘Some official elements create problems for the regime’
Shaikh Yar Muhammad Omara stated that some elements infiltrated in official departments and want to create problems for the regime.
Khateeb of the Grand Khezra mosque of Saravan said, ‘When we (scholars) remain silent, people particularly youth blame us that we are ”Rulers’ scholars” and that we have sold ourselves to rulers. On the other hand, when we defend our rights, some officials blame us that we try to incite people. In fact, there are some elements inside official departments trying to create problems for the system. They want to instigate sectarian disputes and disappoint masses from the regime.’
He added more, ‘When people see their religion and faith in danger, they sacrifice whatever they have for that.’
