Khash: Scholars, Tribal Elders Castigate Insulting Shaikh A. Hameed

IRAN, KHASH- In response to a flouting state-meeting in Khash, outstanding Sunni scholars, imams, khotabaa, teachers, academians and tribal elders castigated the nefarious words of some provincial officials in a meeting on Saturday, January 29, 2012 in Makhzan-ul-Uloom seminary of Khash, Baluchistan.

City governor of Khash, a city in central Baluchistan, Iran, invited Sunni scholars and tribal chiefs to a meeting where a security official tried to create differences between Sunni elders and perverts their views about top Sunni scholar, Shaikh Abdul Hameed Ismaeelzahi, and religious centers, Grand Makki mosque and Darululoom Zahedan seminary. The audacious meeting could not complete its activities; participators announced their severe remonstrance to the vicious comments of officials and left the meeting in protest.

Lately, prominent Islamic scholars, teachers, imams and veteran tribal elders gathered in an Islamic seminary, Makhzan-ul-Uloom Khash, to share views on the sinister but failed endeavor of some authorities in creating disputes. Almost, all eminent dignitaries took part in the gathering and decried the hateful attempts of officials.

The meeting began its session by recitation of holy verses: (O you who believe, do not take anyone as an insider but those from among your own selves. They would spare no effort to do you mischief. They want you to be in trouble. Malice has come out of their mouths while what is concealed in their hearts is still worse. We have made the signs clear to you, if only you understand.) (Look, you are the ones who love them and they do not love you. You believe in all the books; (On the other hand,) when they meet you, they say, We believe, and when they are alone, they bite their finger-tips out of rage against you. Say, May you perish in your rage. Surely, Allah is All-Aware of what lies in the hearts.) (If something good happens to you, it annoys them, and if something evil befalls you, they are delighted with it. If you keep patience and fear Allah, their cunning shall not harm you at all. Allah is All-Encompassing of what they do.)

The first speaker was Shaikh Muhammad Gul Rigi, rector of Makhzan-ul-Uloom Khash, who welcomed the participators and said that they had gathered to protect Islam and Islamic seminaries and a respectable dignitary.

He started his speech by reading the Hadith, الدين النصيحة, (the religion is advice) and underlined saying, ‘I do not want to present something new before you, you know better what are the current crucial problems of Muslims and Islamic countries. We need more than any time to be united; fraternity and coordination are our needs. Oh chiefs of tribes! All of you must know that Islam can remain protected by unification; this is the only way that leads to the main goal.’

Shaikh Rigi addressed the audience saying that they should be up-to-date over the situations of Islamic seminaries and scholars; they must be close to them and support them financially and spiritually. A society can be ideal and prosperous when people maintain their connections with Islamic seminaries and dignitaries.

‘We have not called you to hold any political meeting or anti-state campaign; rather we support the regime and want to convey our message to higher rulers, they are like father and people are children. It is usual that children may have different ideas and father should listen to all of them and solve the issues,’ he continued his points.

He further stated, ‘There are some officials in the province we are unsure whether they are spiteful or following personal aims. We do not know they are against unity or want to create sectarian clashes among the supporters of unity. We just want our constitutional rights and independence of seminaries. We emphasize on it, though some elements can not bear our independence.’

‘Sometimes, we observe some local officials insulting great personalities such as Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdul Hameed; as wee saw in the yesterday’s gathering. Inform the officials that we can not bear such flouts and slanders against scholars. They must not behave as they wish ignoring the interest of the country. Woefully they promote sectarian disputes in the region,’ he urged.

The leading scholar of Khash went on asking, ‘Is it a crime to dispatch scholars to excluded and outlying areas? Is it contrary to law to demand due rights of Ahl-us-Sunnah and establish Qur’anic schools? Shaikh Abdul Hameed only has such activities; why the security officials can not tolerate him.’

Mawlana Muhammad Gul added more saying that the country suffers from various internal and external crises; meantime fanatic elements strive to incite people and create ethnic disputes by targeting our religious elders and seminaries. Even they forced a graduate of Darululoom Zahedan who had been dispatched to teach Islamic sciences in faraway areas to confess what the security men want! (People know well the reality of such professions). It is really shameful that an official man calls the Grand Makki mosque and Darululoom Zahedan “Makki Movement”! If they want to make the region like Syria and Bahrain, so we should be careful and the regime must inform us about them.

Shaikh Rigi recommended the tribal chiefs to protest and convey his message to related departments and higher officials including the Supreme Leader, president, chief justice and the minister of the Intelligence Department.

When Shaikh Muhammad Gul concluded his points, Gul-Muhammad Eiduzahi, a retired colonel, stood to say that scholars and tribal elders must be in close contact always. They should be united. He asked, ‘Why there are attacks on our seminaries and scholars who defend our due rights? When a person insulted Shaikh Abdul Hameed in yesterday’s meeting, why only one tribal chief protested? Others did not say anything; were they afraid of something? Their silence is unacceptable.’

He said more that Shaikh Abdul Hameed protects Sunnis’ rights. ‘Is it according zealotry to sit silently? Are the demands of Shaikh personal? We do not have any media source; so Grand Makki’s tribune is our tribune,’ he added more.

He questioned, ‘When Shaikh Abdul Hameed talked against the unity? You are chiefs of tribes; if you do not get firm stances you will owe scholars and nation a lot. Your presence in such meetings we saw yesterday without any reaction is a shame on you. If we face trial in this way, it will be glory for us. We are not here to remain alive for ever.’

Mr. Eiduzahi emphasized saying that sectarian harms everyone and Sunnis are against it; but some sick-heartened people want to create a gulf between scholars and common people. So, there should be a complaint against them. The person who flouted Sunnis’ leader must be trialed, if people do not protest they will not get mercy after. Insult of Shaikh Abdul Hameed is insult of the entire Sunni community. ‘Oh people! We are devotees of Shaikh-ul-Islam; he sacrificed for us. If any ant is teased, it bites and shows reaction; we are human having some rights. The city governor must be questioned over the insulting meeting.

After him, Mr. Wali Muhammad Kurd, the chief of Kurd tribe in Baluchistan, came in front and said that they respect the Supreme Leader and all scholars should be respected. If anyone of them is flouted, and we remain silent, so we will not be Muslims.

‘We have been trying to maintain unity for decades and Shahada, La Ilaha Illah Muhammad Rasoul Allah, Holy Qur’an and Sahabah are the root for unity. We are Sunni Muslims having rights,’ he stated.

Then, Shaikh Abdulhakeem Kurdi, a teacher at Makhzan-ul-Uloom Khash, delivered a short speech clarifying the stance of scholars about “unity” and “Planning Council for Sunni Seminaries”: ‘Scholars of Ahl-us-Sunnah have been striving to keep the nation united. About 50 Sunni seminaries in the province follow one goal; these seminaries are part of the Coordination Council of Sunni Seminaries in Sistan-Baluchistan. We ensure all that none of them tries to create sectarian clashes or to harm peace of the region.’

Shaikh Kurdi declared the decrees of the state-run Planning Council unacceptable for Sunni Seminaries. Neither this regime nor any other regime has the right of intervention in the affairs of Sunnis’ religious schools.

At the end, Haji Nourmuhammad Mir-Baluchzahi made it clear that their meeting was not sectarian and they would complain to the concerned officials over what happened in Kash’s Guidance Hall. He said that Shaikh Abdul Hameed is not only respectable for Sunnis; rather he is a worldwide dignitary; because he presented his sincere services to all Muslims and Islam.

It should be noted that each one of the speakers received the eulogy of audience by slogans of Allah-o-Akbar.
