Shaikh Ab. Hamid Calls Mass Executions against Teachings of the Prophet PBUH

Criticizing the mass executions in some Muslim countries, the most outstanding Iranian Sunni leader called such treatments shocking and against the Sunnah and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. He was talking to the people of Nikshahr before the Friday prayers on March 18, 2022.

Shaikh Abdol-Hamid called on the leaders of Muslim countries to be moderate and to follow the traditions of the Prophet PBUH in all religious and political matters.

“Unfortunately, in one of the Islamic countries, 81 people were executed in one day; such an action was very shocking. Mass executions are against the Qur’an and against the behavior of the Prophet of Mercy,” said the Friday prayer leader of Sunnis in Zahedan while talking to the people of Nikshahr, southern part of Iranian Baluchistan.

He went on to say: “Muslims and Islamic countries must imitate the Qur’an and the character of the Prophet PBUH everywhere. The Qur’an and Sunnah emphasize on moderation. Islam teaches us tolerance, forgiveness and peace.”

Shaikh Abdol-Hamid mentioned examples of the behavior of the Prophet and his companions in dealing with the opponents and said: “The Prophet released all seventy captives in the battle of Badr and did not kill any of them. In the conquest of Mecca, he said to the people of Mecca: Go, you are free. There were no executions during the caliphate of the Guided Caliphs except cases of death retaliation/Qisas.”

“Sayyidana Ali did not execute even one of the Kharijite prisoners. Islam had been spreading through good attitude and behavior in the time of the Prophet, the Companions, and his households,” the president of Darululoom Zahedan said.

At the end of his speech, shaikh Abdol-Hamid called on the different Islamic sects and schools of thought on unity. He considered acting on commonalities as the only way for Muslims to succeed.
