A Famous Baloch Sunni Scholar Detained in Mashhad

Mawlana Fazl-ur-Rahman Kohi, a well-known Iranian Baloch Sunni scholar has been summoned to the Special Court for Clerics of Mashhad on Thursday, November 28, 2109 and immediately detained.

“SunniOnline” has learnt that Mawlana Kohi was arrested from the court by judicial personnel after hours of interrogation and taken to an unknown place along with six of his companions.

Mawlana Kohi is a popular social activist in Iranian Baluchistan who defends Sunnis national and religious rights.

Protestors in Sarbaz County took to streets and blocked highways. At least six citizens were wounded during the protests against the detention of Mawlana Kohi.

An informed source in the office of Mawlana Abdol-Hamid, president of Darululoom Zahedan, told SunniOnline: “Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid has been pursuing the issue to resolve the problem and get Mawlana Kohi back to home. He hoped that Kohi will be released soon.”

Sources close to Mawlana Kohi told us that he had been asked to leave his tribune of Friday prayers in Pashamag village of Sarbaz and remain silent.

Two years ago, Mawlana Kohi was detained in Mashhad for nine days and then released on bail.
