We Need Ulama

There, in Baluchistan, was a clear need to scholars who can instruct people towards the teachings of Islam and guide them in their daily life. For this purpose, Allah chose Shaikh-ul-Hadith Mawlana Mohammad Yousuf Husseinpour. When Allah intends goodness for a nation, He provides them good guides.

In 1930, Mawlana Husseinpour was born in Gosht, a small city in Saravan county of Iran. He lost his parents in childhood. His uncle who was a Faqeeh (Jurist) and an adhered scholar to the Qur’an and Sunnah undertook his training. After four years in primary school, Mawlana Mohammad Yousuf began learning primary Islamic books. Few years later, he left Gosht to the new country of Pakistan where he got knowledge from famous scholars like Mufti Mahmoud and Mawlana Mohammad Yousuf Binnori. After coming back to his hometown, he undertook running of Ain-ul-Uloom seminary in Gosht.

Shaikh-ul-Hadith was a scientific man. He founded the Cooperation Council of Sunni Seminaries in Sistan-Baluchistan and remained as its general security till his death. The graduation ceremonies of Islamic seminaries were initiated in Iran by his efforts. He was a best adviser to Mawlana Abdol-Aziz as he helped him in writing the new constitution after the revolution of Islamic Republic of Iran in 1979.

Mawlana Husseinpour had a high position among people; he was famous by the title of “teacher of scholars” in Baluchistan. He taught “Saheeh Bukhari” for more than half of a century. He translated many important books into Persian.

Mawlana Husseinpour passed away in his late 80 after a heart surgery in Karachi. His body was buried in his hometown, Gosht cemetery by the presence of tens of thousands people.

Mawlana Mohammad Yousuf Husseinpour taught us the lesson of simplicity, humbleness, sincerity, effort and research. He humbled for Allah and He elevated him as it was clear in his majestic funeral ceremony. In short, Allah showed us an example from sincere and devotee Muslims. We need such Ulama and other scholars should follow the footprints of them.
