“Ahnaf Seminary” of Khaaf Opposes Planning Council

Khaaf- In a wave of aversion to the state-established Planning Council for Sunni Seminaries in Iran, the personnel of reputed Sunni Seminary, Jamiah Ahnaf Khaaf, Khorasan, spurned the decrees of the council.

The rector and teachers of Jamiah Ahnaf Khaaf announced their severe remonstrance over the distribution of financial credit cards and papers titled “Interim Permission for Teachers” by the Planning Council for Sunni Seminaries.

They clarified their stance in a perspicuous letter to the deputy of Ayatollah Khamenehi’s representative in Khorasan province.

In a part of their letter, they stated, ‘Lately, we have received some cards and papers from your office about interim permission of teaching and credit cards. It made teachers of Jamiah Ahnaf very worried. We are not interested in gifts and financial aids of the regime. Our religious schools have been working independently without the financial aids and interventions of governments in our educational affairs; we will do so now and in future as past. We return your cards and papers and announce our aversion to the Planning Council’s decisions as we did in previous cables’

It is pertinent to mention that the Supreme Cultural Council, supervised by president Ahmadinejad, established a planning council for Sunni religious schools few years ago. Most of the members of the council are Shiite. Despite stern rejection of Sunni scholars, the government has been striving to implement their decisions by force.
