Saravan: Meeting of Sunni Seminaries’ Rectors

SARAVAN/ZAHEDAN- The Union of Sunni Seminaries in Sistan-Baluchistan Established an important session attended by all rectors of religious schools across the province of Sistan-Baluchistan in “A’yn-ul-Uloom Gosht” of Saravan on Saturday, December 17, 2011.

Some well-oriented Islamic scholars and religious figures participated the meeting.

The meeting was chaired by Shaikh Mohammad Yousuf Husseinpour, the head of “A’yn-ul-Uloom” Gosht.

The gathering of the Union of Sunni Seminaries ended with suggestions and resolutions signed by more than a hundred scholars who took part in the meeting, heads of schools of the Union, as well as scholars and dignitaries in the province.

In the end, the decisions of the meeting were mentioned in a letter to the office of the Supreme Leader’s representative in the affairs of the Sunnis in the Sistan-Baluchistan province.

It was agreed by all participants in the mentioned meeting to refuse accepting any kind of financial aid from the Office of Ayatollah Khamenehi’s representative or any other official department.

They urged that they had not accepted any donation from the regime before; they will refuse in future as well such supports to maintain the independency of Sunni seminaries.

The heads of Sunni seminaries of Sistan-Baluchistan, Iran, rejected the recent efforts of Ayatollah Khamenehi’s Office to interfere in the internal affairs of Sunni seminaries’ students and teachers.

It is pertinent to mention that the Office of the Supreme Leader’s representative in Sistan-Baluchistan has been trying to change the curriculum of Sunni seminaries and provide to the registered schools some financial aids and donations.

Also, the author of the Baluchi language book that has been taught in the Union’s Seminaries presented an explanation about the book in response to criticisms from some members of the Union.

The rectors of Sunni Seminaries unanimously agreed upon the listed following issues; the final decisions were sent to the related office:

1 – It must be kept in mind that Sunnis’ Seminaries in Sistan-Baluchistan follow some rules and principles constantly. They do not accept financial supports from any center or certain institutions, governmental or non-governmental organizations, but only donations of the public. We provide a chance all people to participate in this charitable work, and to maintain independence in the activity and satisfaction in life. Due to this fact, we refuse to receive any financial contributions by your institution.

2 – Due to the importance of Islamic education, we call the Office to follow up the issue of military service for students and provide them cards of exception from military service until the end of their period of study, as before.

3 – As we have stated in previous messages that we only accept the supervision of observers for the activities of our schools. We do not accept new projects/orders target the freedom and independence of the seminaries, whether formed by governmental or non-governmental organizations.
We demand independence of these centers and freedom of action in the cases of education for our children and in accordance with the Article 12 of the Constitution.

4 – As before we assured the officials, once again we emphasize to do not allow, by the permission of Allah Almighty, seditious activities which create differences between Shiite and Sunnis in the Sunni seminaries of Sistan-Baluchistan. We impede anti-Shia activities, if we see such things.
