An Israeli airstrike on the southern part of the Gaza Strip has claimed the lives of three Palestinians, Palestinian medical sources have said.
The airstrike targeted the victims near the El Bureij refugee camp on Monday evening, AFP reported.
However, an Israeli army spokesman claimed that the people who were killed had been “preparing to fire rockets from the Gaza Strip into Israel.”
Israel usually makes statements like this in an attempt to justify unacceptable actions that can never be justified, such as the deadly attacks that the Israeli army frequently carries out against Gaza.
Before launching the December 2008-January 2009 war on Gaza, Israel claimed it was responding to projectiles fired from the territory, even though the home-made rockets usually do not harm anyone or cause much damage to property.
The war killed more than 1,400 Palestinians and inflicted over $1.6 billion in damage on Gaza’s economy.
