A number of prominent Kuwaiti scholars condemned an American religious group’s plans to host what they’re calling “International Burn a Quran Day”.
According to Al-Anba daily, the Kuwaiti scholars issued a statement in which they regarded the move as a sign of deep hatred and animosity towards Islam.
They called on world leaders and the Islamic Ummah to stand up against such hateful and dangerous moves.
This is in line with other insulting measures in the west, they said, warning that if this (burning the Quran) happens, it will result in a crisis like the one that happened after publication of blasphemous cartoons of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in a number of European dailies.
A Florida church has said it has plans to publically burn the holy Quran on the ninth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.
The Dove World Outreach Center has called for the “International Burn a Quran Day” and asked other religious groups to join in the event.
