Talban claim raid on US patrol killed 12
bagram-airbseThe Taliban have claimed responsibility for an attack near the heavily fortified US-run Bagram Airbse, saying the incident killed 12 American troops.

The attack took place on Sunday when an American military patrol was targeted near Bagram Airbase in north of the Afghan capital Kabul.
Afghan authorities said only the vehicle was damaged in the incident. The US military has yet to comment on possible casualties.
A spokesman for the Taliban, however, said twelve US troops were killed in the attack.
Earlier, a bomb explosion killed a foreign soldier serving with US-led foreign troops in southern Afghanistan.
The nationality of the soldier has not yet been released. The death brought to 378 the number of NATO troops killed in Afghanistan so far this year.
The rising death toll has raised fears that 2010 could become the deadliest year for US-led forces in Afghanistan since the invasion of the country in 2001.
The violent incidents and rising fatalities in Afghanistan come despite a massive troop surge in the war-torn country.
Some 140,000 US-led troops are currently stationed in Afghanistan. A further 10,000 are expected to be deployed to the war-ravaged country in the coming weeks.
NATO’s mounting death toll has led to a dramatic decline in public support for the Afghan war across Europe and the US.
