(T.M. Mani) a well known leader of “Dalits”, a Hindi group, after a long period of struggle against the sectarian system, which lasted (52) years, finally embraced Islam. He. “Mani” has written a book in English under the title (the end of the caste system) and is scheduled to be published this week in “New Delhi” and had described the sufferings and achievements during the years of his struggle.
After his embracement of Islam, He named himself Omar al Farooq and decided to celebrate this occasion and deliver a speech in the occasion.
In the Indian subcontinent 200 million are “Dalits and they do not treat each other as fellow human beings. In some rural areas when a teacher wants to punish a student of this group (Dalit) uses a wood after the punishment is over he believes that the wood became dirty, therefore he does not punish other students with the same wood!!
Member of this community (Dalit group) hope to improve their social status and to change their religion in order to enjoy freedom and equal rights with others.
