Tehran: Police halt Sunnis from Eid prayers

TEHRAN- the Security Police of Tehran metropolis stopped Sunni Muslims to offer Eid prayers on Eid al-Fitr day, August 31, 2011.

“SunniOnline” has learnt that the Police of Tehran mobilized its forces besieging the particular houses where Sunni worshipers wanted to establish Eid prayers.
The police blockaded people from entrance of the houses.

According to our sources, the Sunni community of Tehran specified some houses for Eid prayers in the city which were identified by the police to be blocked; the security authorities detained the identification cards of residents of the houses.

Some reports suggest that security authorities banned on Sunnis’ Eid prayers in other mega cities of Iran where Sunnis are in minority.

It must be noted that the Sunni community of Tehran has no mosques to offer five-time prayers; there is no any particular place for Sunnis to establish Eid and Friday prayers, thus, they rented some houses to offer Eid prayers over there.
