Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol Hamid, in his Friday prayer sermon (June 28, 2024), criticized the ongoing Israeli atrocities in Gaza and warned of the consequences of continuing this war. He stated: This war is disrupting global security and strengthening and spreading terrorism in the world.
The Sides of the Gaza War Should Release Each Other’s Prisoners and Agree to a Ceasefire
According to the website of the Zahedan Sunni Friday Imam’s Office, Mawlana Abdol Hamid said in a part of his speech at this ceremony: These days in Palestine, the situation is very difficult and the scenes are very heartbreaking. These scenes are unbearable for anyone who has a sense of humanity.
He added: “Unfortunately, the extremist leaders of Israel have no qualms about killing people, destroying houses, and massacring women and children, and we even feel that they enjoy this work, while if someone has humanity, killing animals and destroying natural resources is shocking, let alone That someone destroys the living environment of humans. Despite the passage of more than seventy years, Israel still makes excuses to return Palestinian lands to the Palestinians and wants to continue massacres.
The Friday prayer leader of Zahedan stated: “The continuation of this trend is not in the interests of the Jews, the Muslims, or the world. War, destruction, and killing from any side is a waste, and the world must stop war, cruelty, and human casualties. Giving weapons to Israel to kill Palestinians or to anyone who kills people is harmful to everyone.”
He added : “the two sides must release each other’s prisoners and agree to a ceasefire. Israel must agree to a just settlement and the return of occupied territories to the Palestinians; this could be a guarantee of peace and global security.”
Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol Hamid warned of the dangerous consequences of the continued Gaza war, saying: “if the war continues in this way, it could escalate into World War III. He said that the war is undermining global security and strengthening and spreading terrorism in the world.”
He emphasized: “the way to combat terrorism is to return to justice”. He stated: “ justice and a fair and reasonable settlement can dry up the roots of terrorism. Americans, Europeans, and all governments of the world should use their influence to control Israel. Israel pays no attention to UN Security Council resolutions and statements, international forums, and warnings and reminders from governments. The oppressor must be stopped. Whoever commits injustice or supports the oppressor will fall into the wrath and punishment of God and the anger of the nations.”
Praise be to God, the ‘Awakening’ Movement Has Reached Our Nation, and the People are Recognizing Their Responsibilities
We Must Raise Our Capacity and Respect Everyone’s Freedom
In another part of his Friday sermon in Zahedan, Mawlana Abdol Hamid said: “Praise be to God, today in the world and especially in our own country, Iran, an ‘Awakening’ Movement has come, and all people, men and women, know and recognize their duties and act accordingly.”
He further noted: “What is important is that we raise our capacity and respect the rights and freedoms of all people. Everyone wants to reach happiness in their own way. There must be capacity and tolerance, and people must have their own freedom. In developed countries, there are different views and perceptions, and these differences are tolerated. Islam has taught us magnanimity, tolerance, and foresight.”
Slander and Backbiting Have Increased Significantly in Cyberspace; This Is Against Morality
The Friday prayer leader of Zahedan criticized the “increase of bad manners in cyberspace” in the final part of his speech, saying:
“Unfortunately, slander, backbiting, and bad manners have increased significantly in cyberspace these days. This is against morality. I remind everyone not to slander or backbite each other for our own or others’ worldly gains, and not to play with anyone’s reputation. We must avoid these issues.” He added: “We must keep Allah in mind. We will all appear before Allah Almighty one day and be accountable for our actions. May Allah Almighty grant us all the ability to adhere to the teachings of Islam.”
The Quran Is the Book of Guidance and Leads to the Best Path
In the first part of his speech at the Zahedan Friday prayers, Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol Hamid referred to the Quran as “the book of guidance” and “the best spiritual program for building humans” and considered “returning to the Quran” and “following the teachings of the book and tradition” the only solution to the world’s problems.
According to the website of the Zahedan Sunni Friday Prayer Leader’s Office, Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol Hamid, after reciting the verse “Indeed, this Quran guides to the one which is most upright” [Al-Isra: 9], said: “Throughout human history, Allah Almighty has sent books for the guidance of the world and his servants, and also prophets who are free from error and mistake, and this program has always been in place from God for the spiritual education of humans. In this program, the last prophet is “Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)”, the last book is “the Quran”, and the last religion is “Islam”.”
He continued: “The Quran, as the last book of God, does not belong to a particular people or nation, but rather to all humanity; as Allah Almighty said in describing the Quran: ‘A guide for the people’.” The Quran contains advice, counsel, and admonition for all people of the world. The Quran is a guidebook and a book of guidance that guides to the best and healthiest path. The Quran is a vast treasure and an endless sea that has no shore. I wish the people of the world and the experts would know the Holy Quran as it deserves and as the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and the close ones of this book knew it.
The Zahedan Friday prayer leader continued to say, referring to some of the “ways to protect the Quran”: “The Quran is the word of God, and God himself has taken upon himself its protection. Thousands of companions received it directly from the lips of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), men and women recited the Quran in abundance, a large number of people memorized the Quran, and the scribes of revelation wrote the Quran. The Quran is Mutawatir (authentic because of Overwhelming Number of Narrators) , no one has been able to add or subtract from it. Allah Almighty protects the Great Quran so that it can be trusted by His servants and so that His servants can use it until the Day of Judgment.”
Those Who Follow the Quran are a Source of Mercy for The World
Mawlana Abdol Hamid further stated: “Although the present world has made progress in the field of industry, technology, and modern sciences, it has not only not made progress in building the human being, who is the best and most honored creation, but has also fallen back. The Quran has a program for this dimension and builds the human being and makes him a source of mercy for the world. Without a doubt, anyone who receives the constructive messages of the Quran and puts himself at the disposal of the Quran will be a source of mercy for the world in terms of morality, faith, and practice.”
He added: “It is a pity that today many people run away from the Quran before reading it, and many run away from the teachings of the Prophet (peace be upon him) before studying his life and character. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the Muslims did not only conquer cities, but also conquered hearts with their morals and true faith. When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) conquered Mecca, he showed mercy to all, not allowing a single person to suffer harm, but rather forgave and pardoned everyone.”
Compassion for the Captive, the Poor, and the Orphan Is a Beautiful Teaching of Islam
In the continuation of his Friday sermon, Mawlana Abdol Hamid highlighted some of the beautiful teachings of Islam and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), stating: “Among the teachings of Islam and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is to show compassion to the poor, the orphan, the captive, and the prisoner, and to share with them the food you eat yourself. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught the best treatment and education for prisoners. The early companions would feed the prisoners and eat what was left, give the prisoners their best clothes, and treat them like guests. No one would insult the prisoners; this is the religion of Islam, its ethics, and its Muslimness. Unfortunately, however, in today’s world, many mistreat prisoners, which is contrary to the teachings of Islam.”
He further elaborated: “Today, some Godless people take people hostage for ransom, torture them, and threaten their families and relatives. What kind of Muslimness is this?! Taking hostages is not right, even for a debt. The creditor should go to court, to an elder, or to a cleric to collect his debt. And if that still doesn’t work, he should at least take the debtor’s property, not take people hostage.”
The Friday prayer leader of Zahedan emphasized: “Our society degenerated the day it distanced itself from the Quran and the teachings of the Prophet of Mercy. In the early days of Islam, the great, conquering, and civilized nations of the world were influenced by the morals and programs of the Muslims, and upon seeing the faith, humanity, and compassion of the Muslims, they embraced Islam. All of this goes back to the life-giving teachings of the Quran. With the advent of the Quran, the doors of God’s mercy were opened, the world was transformed, and people felt that faith, morality, religion, honesty, justice, and trustworthiness had been reborn. This was when there were followers of the Quran and the character and actions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the world. Therefore, the solution to the problems of all people is to return to the Quran, the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, and true Islam.”
