Shaikh Ab. Hamid Met with Minister of CIG

In a meeting with the Minister of culture and Islamic Guidance of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid urged on the freedom of press and to refrain from discrimination against ethnic and religious communities in the ministry.

At a meeting of Shiite and Sunni scholars with the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance on Friday night, January 29, 2020, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid urged that sects and religious communities should be treated as no one will feel discrimination.

President of Darululoom Zahedan considered the ethnic and religious diversity an opportunity in the province of Sistan & Baluchistan and across the country in the meeting with the minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance in Zahedan.

He also emphasized on the necessity of implementation of justice among ethnic and religious communities.

The meeting was held with the presence of the Governor of Sistan & Baluchistan, Representative of the Supreme Leader and the provincial chiefs.

Mawlana Abdol-Hamid congratulated Dr. Abbas Salehi, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance on his visit to Sistan and Baluchistan saying: “The visit of state officials to the province makes us more hopeful. The Minister of Islamic Culture and Guidance should take measures to eliminate the bans on printing Sunnis books

In this meeting, Mawlana Abdol-Hamid demanded Sunnis press freedom saying that Sunnis have the right of freedom of press in accordance with the constitution.

The president of Darululoom Zahedan pointed to some obstacles that Sunnis of Iran are facing and said: “The Sunnis face obstacles on freedom of press and publishing books; they complain that their books were banned from printing and were not published under minor excuses.”

Mawlana Abdol-Hamid said: “As Shiites books are to be published, Sunnis books should also be published without regard to their religious pertinence.”

Shaikh Abdol-Hamid applied for a license for publishing the Arabic magazine of “Islamic Awakening” and said that the former Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance had promised to issue a license, but it had not yet been issued.

“We hope that this magazine will be licensed as soon as possible”, he added more.

The “Islamic Awakening Magazine” is an internal Arabic magazine published by Darululoom Zahedan, Iran and has hundreds of readers.

Shaikh Abdol-Hamid pointed out on the necessity of recurring government jobs equally among all Iranians without consideration of their religion and sect.

“People’s demand is that Sunnis should be engaged in government posts, regardless of their ethnic or religious backgrounds”, he concluded his points.
