Dr Mehmood Ghazi dies of heart attack
mahmoud_ghaziISLAMABAD: Former minister, judge Federal Shariah Court judge and president International Islamic University (IIUI) Dr Mehmood Ahmed Ghazi died of cardiac arrest heart here early Sunday. He was 60.

Dr Ghazi was at his residence in Islamabad on early Sunday when suffered from cardiac arrest. He was taken to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) but could not survive.
Ghazi has left behind a window and five daughters to mourn his death. Different political, social and religious personalities have expressed their heartfelt grief over the death of Dr Ghazi. They termed his death a great loss for the country.
Dr. Ghazi was laid to rest in H-11 graveyard. Senator Raja Zafarul Haq, Abdul Rasheed Turabi, Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani, Iftikhar Arif, Anwaar Siddiqui, Zafar Ishaq Ansari, Sajidur Rehman and hundreds of Ghazi’s fans attended the funeral. Maulana Ahmed Mian Thanvi of Daurul Uloom Islamia, Lahore led the funeral prayer.
Dr Ghazi also served as religious affairs minister and the former vice-chancellor of the International Islamic University, Islamabad. He was a brilliant academic and jurist who authored many books on different topics and in various languages including a translation of the Seerah of Prophet Muhammad from French to English.
Ghazi visited the UK many times and delivered lectures and seminars on various topics. Different academicians of various countries took his advice on curriculum, strategy and future planning very seriously.
Ghazi was a proponent of interfaith harmony and gave the ‘Cosmopolitan Fiqh’ concept to bring all faiths together. He was a linguist knowing seven international languages and author of number of books.
