I assure the establishment that it is an Islamic and spiritual gathering.”

Shaikh continued pointing out to some of the baseless charges to the Sunnis saying, “Some opportunistic Shiite extremists accuse us of being Wahhabis. We are inhabitants of Iran for many years, we are not separatists, as we are proud of our religion Islam as well as we are proud of our country, surely we are not sectarian and we do not like inciting sectarianism. Although some Sunnis have their own views but we are not responsible for their point of views.

These religious meetings are held to honor the graduating students; so it must not be taken as a risk for any one. We hold these meetings because we believe that knowledge and scholars should be honored; as Almighty Allah says that the total honors go to God and his believers. We want the respect of this world and the respect of Hereafter, we realize our responsibility towards our people and other Sunni regions in Iran, and we have to insure our responsibility according to the constitution of the country.”

Religious schools are not a threat; do not need to be regulated by the government

While talking to hundred thousands of Sunnis in the south east of Iran, Mawlana Abdul Hameed condemned the charges which published in some national newspapers saying, “I saw in some newspapers it published that the largest meeting of Wahhabism would be held in Zahedan! Once they accused us by Wahhabism, then others attack by the issue of the government’s decision to control Sunni religious schools. I say the officials and maker of this resolution act, as we stressed in the past that our religious activities are not threats to anyone, our schools are organized and there is no need of the government’s reorganization. We do not want to pay the expenses of our schools, government must avoid from interference.”
Shaikh continued saying, “If Iranian government seeks the services of the Sunni community so they are requested to select their children in the police and the armed forces and utilize the college graduates of Sunnis in other departments to serve side by side along with their Shiite fellows, in this way they can defend the sovereignty of the country’s territory in the better way.”
Shaikh discussed the matter of employments as well and added, “The government did not employ the Sunnis in senior government positions, rather the share of employments with the balance is necessary, but the  average of employments in government departments in which they are assigned to us is very little, and every one should clear their mind that we are not Pakistanis and foreigners, and history is witness that our fathers fought the British to defend this border and we inherited the these assigned to us, for that the balance in employments and justice in the issues of other matters and the inauguration of positions among the inhabitants is very necessary.”
Shaikh continued saying, “Our approach is a moderate approach, we are not extremists, and we hope the officials do not listen to the reports of extremist elements of Shiite, but they must follow justice.”
“We ask the supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenehi to resolve the problems of Sunnis personally and we believe that there are problems that neither the president nor the Shura Council (Parliament) is able to resolve them, it can be solved only by the supreme leader. We have pursued our matters through these channels but we have not seen any result,” Shaikh added.
