Sanctity of the Man and the Prohibition of Killing
By:
Muhammd Qasem Bani Kamal (Qasemi)

No doubt that human being is the masterpiece of the unparallel skill of the God almighty. He has created all creatures to be in service of the man and different universal phenomenon were made in his favour which shows his importance.

The appointment of prophets to lead the man is also another reason for his significance for the God almighty. That is why no one is allowed to make any assault against any member of human society unless it is permitted by the Almighty; because he does not like his creation to be insulted by any one else. The God Almighty has equaled the innocent killing of a single person with killing of all men and women in the world; and has also announced harsh punishment for killers of innocent people and assaulters to their lives and properties. The Almighty in verse number 93 of the Surah Nesa (women) has introduced five categories of punishment for killers:

1-    Hill
2-    Eternal remaining at the hill
3-    Anger of the Almighty
4-     Curse and execration of the Almighty
5-    Grand punishment

Unfortunately, some people commit murdering of innocents for the sake of their tribe(s) or parties and kill people over minor and non-important issues. Killing and assassination of political or ideological rivals has become common feature of their lives, and some of them do it just to make their masters happy or to prevent disclosing their dark past. But all these are vain efforts as history and human experience both show that such people have paid for their misdeeds although they might have been able to conceal their wrongdoings for a limited time and sing and dance upon the bones and corpses of their defeated rivals; and no doubt punishment for them in the second world would be much harsher and more dangerous than what they may imagine.

Our holy Prophet (PBUH) has prohibited us from killing of non –Muslims living in the Islamic lands. Unfortunately some people think that the killing of a non-Muslim at any condition is beneficial for them in terms of rewards by the Almighty whereas it is totally wrong. Beside that fact that their killing is a big crime, these acts would represent a bad face of Islam, thus will affect the social status of Muslims in the non-Muslim world, and consequently disturb the propagation and extension of Islam. Therefore, any assault against these people either in the shape of kidnapping, killing or prosecuting is forbidden in Islam. However, if they commit any crime, they would be trialed according to the laws of the concerned countries but no one has the rights to willfully disturb their security.

The Quintessence of Freedom and Pluralism in ِDevine Literature
By:
Dr Usuf Qarzaavi
Translated by:
Abdol Aziz Salimi

The observation of Islam to the life and cosmos is based on two fundamental realities:
1-The God’s Unity
2- Diversity of creation
In Islam the God’s unity is considered as spirit of all observation, thoughts, cultures, and Islamic civilization. All prophets have emphasized their addressees to believe in God’s Unity. Making him free of all forms of manifestation of spiritual slavery and adoration to other man-made divines, Islam emancipates the man from worshiping the objects, people, sun, moon, stars, animals and the carnal desires.

The second reality is about the multiplicity of creation, of races, languages, divines, cultures and parties. Islam recognizes all these diversities. The pure divine of God says to the man: "You are not alone in the realm of existence. You should not consider yourself an entity who has no mate and match as there are so many that are your partners in existence and living."  It is necessary for the man to realize this reality and know that this is a world with a huge multiplicity. The Almighty has created men in different races and tribes so that they could identify each other as well as opt for co-operation and co-existence; thus avoid alienation, dispute and enmity. Therefore, no race should claim superiority over others.

Similarly, pluralism in religion, culture and politics is an irrefutable fact; therefore, monopolization and totalitarianism in these areas are not acceptable. No matter to believe on rightness of our beliefs and religion, however, we should accept there are also some other religions in the human society. In order to promote tolerance and coexistence with followers of other religions we should acknowledge that disagreement is the law of nature, and only the God has the right to prosecute one for his beliefs. We should respect the man on the basis of humanity and regard his rights, and face every one with peace and justice. Variety and multiplicity should be utilized as a factor for promotion and strengthening of Islamic civilization. Finally, it is to be said that in the subject of religious and political pluralism Islam has brighter history as compared to the western civilization.

A  Review of Religions
By: Abdol Aziz Noamani

From Islamic point of view the man has been pious and theist since his creation. According to Quranic verses the God almighty created Prophet Adam as first human and appointed him as his successor on the earth. A great number of western scholars also believes that believe to the God and the religion has been existing among all nations and nationalities since their early age. But later on, seeing different features of their surrounding nature such as vastness of sky and the immensity of mountains, the man got amazed. Feeling the presence of a mighty and mysterious power, he gave it an objective shape and started paying homage for them.

With the passage of time, mountains, jungle, stones, the sun, the moon, celestial bodies and even Satan and the genii were considered sacred and people went for their worship. The sign of this kind of sanctification can still be found in so many religions. For instance the Hindus believe to the sanctity of the twin rivers (Ganga & Jamna), the cow and many other living creatures. In Zoroastrian religion water, weather, soil and fire are to be respected. However, due to changes took place at the sphere of thoughts and beliefs, different religions came into being that generally are categorized into four categories.  This part of the article explains two of them:

1-    Materialism: according to this school of thought material is the essence of this world and any occurrence is its outcome.  It denies the existence of any God or metaphysical power and over all the divine recognizing only the existence of material. In past, the followers of this school have also been known as atheist.

2-    Philosophical Divines: it refers to sets of ideas that the philosophers of the era before Christianity have concluded about beliefs and ethics; and in principle neither these people have been prophets nor their ideas have been from revelation. The number of these kinds of religions is very great and hundreds of them are only being practiced in India. However, the famous ones such as Hinduism, Buddhism, and Zoroastrian have huge number of followers throughout the world.

Essence and Principle of Preaching in the Era of the Holy Prophet (PBUH)
By:
Muhammad Anwar Bozorgzadeh

Summoning men unto God that the holy Prophet ( PBUH) was its founder under the instruction of the Almighty , comprised all principles of the religion in a very sample and comprehensive way. So, the term Islamic Dawah (Islamic Summoning) was used for Islam referring to it in a comprehensive form. It is very interesting to know that Dawah at the early era of Islam was being conducted through a mechanism in which education and practice were effectively going on side by side. By the way preaching Islam at the time of his Excellency was functioning as a school where the companions received education and also as monastery where they to practiced their learning. It was the most prominent feature of the Islamic Dawah.

In twentieth century Molana Muhammad Ilyas _ the founder of Jamaat Dawat & Tabligh, experimented the above pattern of summoning in the Mywaat region of India which proved greatly successful in that area and the entire world. During his vast and deep studies he could find out the fundamental principles of the early era of summoning and included them in his Dawah movement. Some of those principles are:

1-    Summoning men unto God
2-    Education and learning
3-    Worship and invocation of God
4-    Embracing Islamic ethics

One of the important features of summoning at the era of the holy Prophet (PBUH) was minimalism as a generally accepted principle. The great companions of his Excellency remained committed to this principle too. But after the era of companions the situation was gradually changed. The Islamic Dawah was torn apart and got confined in monasteries and seminaries separately. Consequently, the principles of unity and simplicity became obsolete. As matter of fact, simplicity was a program by which the companions and their successive attendants could apply complete set of Islamic values and principles in their lives; that is why, in terms of devotion and cultivation of religion they got to a level that the holy Prophet (PBUH) declared them as the best class of  Muslims.

Social and Commercial Entrepreneurship in the Context of Islamic Values
By:
Dr. Habibullah Salar Zahi

In the beautiful palace of creation, the real and unique entrepreneur is the God almighty who created the world with a beautiful and maverick creativity, and rewarded the man as super creature with knowledge, spirituality, talent and creativity, so that he could revolutionize the nature with his creative mentality. Entrepreneurship is not a new phenomena instead the human life has been accompanied by creativity and entrepreneurship since its early stage. It has paved the way for change in nature and invention of goods and instrument for public welfare. However, entrepreneurship in its modern and academic form appeared in seventeenth and eighteenth centuries in the economic arena. It is divided into three parts:

1-    Public Entrepreneurship
2-    Business Entrepreneurship
3-    Social Entrepreneurship

Praising entrepreneurship in economic and social arena and considering high values for them the true Islam is the pioneer of entrepreneurship and beneficial creativities for human welfare. The propaganda of western civilization through media and the vulnerability of young generation to immoral and deceptive western programs and the growth of social issues such as drug-addiction need the enlightened religious figures, scholars, elites and compassionate youth not to be apathetic towards their surrounding social ground realities. Beside up-grading their spiritualities they should have pedantry observation to the social dimension of their surrounding environment; and ensure maximum participation of  seminaries, religious institutions, mosques, charity foundations, thinking cabinets of elders and reliable persons and educational and civil societies in the sphere of social entrepreneurship. By promoting and training entrepreneurs in economic and social areas they should assist the governments in their efforts for poverty eradication and human development.

Prophets versus Reformists and Pioneers of Social Change: A Comparative Study

(Part I)

By: Syed Abol Hassan Ali Hassani Nadvi
Translated by: Muhammad Qasem Bani Kamal (Qasemi)

Revelation is the most distinguishing characteristic of prophets by which they have been honoured. It is the source of their faith, knowledge and preaching that separate them from other groups. That is why they cannot be compared with other personalities such as political leaders, reformists, philosophers and ideologues who have played role in different periods of human history.

The second characteristic of prophets is that they began redressing the belief system of people training them how to make contacts with their sole God and what kind of beliefs should they have towards him. The summoning of prophets is based on worships. Their argument and teaching is that the benefits and loss are only at the hand of the God almighty; that is why, only he deserves worship and prayers, auspices and sacrifice. Therefore, the essential pillar of divine summoning until the great resurrection and the everlasting heritage of prophet hood is monotheism.

The full-fledged struggle of prophets has always been against polytheism and worshiping of the others-than-God in the shape of idles as well as living and dead personalities. Idolatry and polytheism is a universal ignorance which has been part of the human’s old collection of diseases. Unfortunately this is the Achilles' heel which the man has been suffering from during every era of transformation. And it is that detestable character which provokes the anger of the Almighty as well as prevents the people from social, moral and spiritual development.

However, other symbols of ignorance such as obedience to others-than –God, acceptance of their judgment, surrender to non-Islamic laws and recognition of non- Islamic regimes are also counted in polytheism although, their intensity is lesser than open-polytheism  that was discussed earlier.

Therefore, open polytheism should not be taken too lightly and be given a marginal and secondary position in the main principles of summoning, preaching, propagation and jihad. Also, it should not be put in the same category beside political obedience and administrative compliance. To add in passing, open polytheism and idolatry are not supposed to be considered as characteristics of the Era of Ignorance which now is over. It would indeed be an insult to the prophets' summoning and their efforts as well as distrust to the eternality of the holy Quran.

Love to the Household of the Holy Prophet (PBUH)

By: Abdul Qader Dehqan

Love and affection to the household of the holy Prophet (PBUH) is a subject that needs mo discussion as all Islamic sects acknowledge it and in fact, it has been a matter of glory and pride for them. Whatever proved on the strength of the holy Quran is that the wives of the holy Prophet (PBUH) are regarded as his household.  According to the plain text of the holy Prophet’s sayings his two grand children – Imam Hassan &Imam Hussain _along with their parents are to be counted as his household too. Some scholars categorize household on the basis of three factors: parentage, inhabitance, and birth. Therefore, the household of the holy Prophet (PBUH) is divided into three groups: close relatives, wives, and children and offspring.

The Sunnites respect and love the household of the holy Prophet (PBUH), and put its each member on a position s/he deserves. They make fair judgment about them without mixing up their personal sentiments, and do not ignore any one of them. On the basis of relationship as well as companionship, the Sunnites respect and love that part of the household who had the honour to see the holy Prophet (PBUH) and to be with him. They also love other segment of the household who could not meet his Excellency but had faith upon. However, in both cases, there is a direct linkage between their nobleness and their faith. They would enjoy the honour of being member of the household if they have had faith to Islam; otherwise, simple relationship with the holy Prophet (PBUH) would not be helpful. It can be concluded:

1-love and respect to the household of the holy Prophet (PBUH) is the sign of faith.
2-Wives and children of the holy Prophet (PBUH) and his relatives from the genealogical tree of Abdul Mottaleb are counted as his household.
3- Each of the eleven religious heads  (the Eleven Imams) were shining stars of sainthood and  asceticism and guardian of Sunnahs of the holy Prophet (PBUH) during their eras, but household of the Holy Prophet is not limed to them.
4- Sons of Hashim (Bani Hashim) and other relatives of the holy Prophet (PBUH) are to be considered as household if they were believers and followers of his instructions.
5-The relationship of the holy Prophet (PBUH) with his wives is not disrupted and they would remain his wives in this world and hereafter.
