Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid, in his sermon before the Friday prayer on Friday, 9 October 2026, expressed deep concern over economic pressure and the shadow of another war over the country, and stressed the need for genuine talks at the domestic and international levels, the fulfillment of the people’s legitimate demands, the prevention of executions, and a just resolution of the crises in the Middle East.
Warning about the shadow of war and unbearable economic pressure
Mawlana Abdol-Hamid, pointing to the current difficult conditions and the possibility of another war, said: These days some issues are under discussion and the smell of war is in the air. Another issue that has confused minds and severely displeased the public is the economic pressure beyond the capacity of society. Shocking realities exist; many people do not even have dry bread, they obtain it with difficulty and eat it with water and tea, and they do not have the power to buy anything else.
He further said: Our people are spending very difficult days. Inflation, the rise in prices, and the decline in the value of the national currency have made life hard, and markets and businesses have come to a standstill because the public has no purchasing power. Our nation and country are passing through difficult conditions, and on the other hand they face the real danger of war. We have already gone through two wars with heavy losses and destruction, and a new war will certainly also be destructive.
The Sunni Imam of Zahedan, describing dialogue at the domestic and international levels as the best path to the salvation of the Iranian people, said: The best path is genuine and correct agreement and dialogue, not show dialogue; a way must be found so that war can be prevented.
The need for nuclear transparency and prioritizing the lifting of sanctions
Mawlana Abdol-Hamid, referring to the international disputes over Iran’s nuclear program, clarified: The opponents blame for the preparation of nuclear weapons, while the officials say they have no intention of making such weapons and the world also wants the same. If there is nothing else behind the curtain, the solution is easy; we must speak in the language of those who are entangled with us and exerting pressure, and convince the world that we are not after nuclear weapons. If only the officials would take advantage of this situation and, taking into account the global demands, resolve the nuclear issue.
He emphasized: In these conditions, the greatest priority must be the interest of Iran’s afflicted nation, the lifting of sanctions, and the release of frozen assets. First the demands of the Iranian nation must be given priority, and then attention should be paid to solving the problems of the Middle East.
A just solution to the Palestine issue; the key to the stability of the Middle East and the world
The Friday preacher of Zahedan, expressing concern over the security situation in the Middle East and the spread of conflicts beyond the land of Palestine, said: Wisdom is needed to resolve these differences so that historical relations and the right of being neighbors are not ended. The second issue that must be given attention in agreements is a just solution to the problems of Palestine. For more than seventy years these differences have been the root of much insecurity. Fair peace must be established throughout the Middle East, especially between Israel and the Palestinians, so that the rights of the Palestinians are respected and they have an independent government so that they themselves decide their destiny. Because the Middle East is the center of global trade, this peace can restore security, calm, and stability to the whole world.
The people are benefactors; do not give the field to extremists
In another part of his remarks, speaking about domestic issues, he said: Domestic problems must be solved through dialogue, listening to the people, and fulfilling their legitimate demands. The best wealth of this land is the wise and noble people of Iran. God has granted this wealth to the country and everything belongs to these very people. The people are the benefactors and patrons of the officials, and it is this same nation that has brought you to power; you needed their votes for the confirmation of the system, and they have voted for you over the past decades. You must sit with the people and obtain their consent.
Mawlana Abdol-Hamid, warning about the growing strength of extremists, further said: Do not listen to the extremists so that the country does not face major challenges. If the authorities entrust the country to the good people so that they mediate, the problems will be solved easily. But if war breaks out, important infrastructure will be destroyed and the country, which has already fallen several decades behind, will fall even further behind.
Criticism of the extent of executions and emphasis on dialogue with political prisoners
Iran’s prominent religious scholar, openly criticizing the forced treatment of protesters, said: Imprisonment and execution are not the solution. The extent of executions that exists in the country today is unprecedented in the history of Islam and the heavenly religions. I say sincerely with pain that these executions only increase the distance between the nation and the government. Violence and execution bring hatred and enmity; violence brings violence. The solution is that the rightful demands of the other side be accepted, and that kindness, benevolence, and dialogue be used. In these delicate conditions, talk with political prisoners and stay with the people.
Emphasis on preserving the security of the province
Pointing to the issues of Sistan and Baluchistan, he emphasized: In this province all ethnicities and denominations are relatives of one another and have historical relations. This brotherhood must be preserved. The security of the roads, cities, and all the dear people of the province is necessary, and everyone must strive to protect it.
Demanding the right to Hirmand water from Afghanistan
Mawlana Abdol-Hamid, referring to the beginning of the agricultural season in Sistan and the continuous drought, said: It is expected from the Islamic government of Afghanistan that it release the water behind the dams so that it reaches Sistan and Nimruz. The people of these two regions are brothers and relatives. We thank the past cooperation of the government of Afghanistan thanks to which water reached Chah Nimeh and Nimruz; it is hoped that with the descent of God’s mercy the dams will be filled and in this season water will flow in the region.
He further said: Because of the beginning of the agricultural season, the people of Sistan and Nimruz are waiting for the opening of the dams and the flow of water.
Remain steadfast on the path of truth and the straight path until the end of life
Shaikh-ul-Islam Mawlana Abdol-Hamid, in the first part of his remarks on the occasion of the Friday prayer in Zahedan, emphasizing steadfastness on the path of truth, said: God Almighty expects from us human beings that we remain steadfast on the path of truth and the straight path until the end of life and never transgress the truth for the sake of worldly interests; this obtains the pleasure of God Almighty and becomes the cause of success.
“Taqwa” and “being with the truthful” are the axes of felicity and salvation
The Friday preacher of Zahedan further said: God Almighty, addressing the believers in the verse “يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَكُونُوا مَعَ الصَّادِقِينَ”, has said: “O you who have believed, fear Allah and be with the truthful.” In this verse “the truthful” refers to the Prophet and the Companions who in the Battle of Tabuk endured the heat, the long journey, the lack of facilities, and all difficulties and remained steadfast on the truth. The Companions joined the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, in that expedition and performed jihad.
He said: The fear of God is the axis of good, salvation, and felicity. The truthful are the people of truth who remain steadfast on the straight path. Joining the people of truth is one of the examples of taqwa/piety.
He clarified: Adherence to taqwa and being with the truth is the guarantee of success and felicity. When we have taqwa and piety and live on the path of the Quran and Sunnah and try to make our acts of worship and morals conform to the character of the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, then we are walking on the path of truth and have become with the truthful.
Islam is a complete package of beliefs, acts of worship, morals, and rulings, acting upon which becomes the cause of salvation
The Friday preacher of Zahedan said: Our felicity and happiness lie in following the path of God and the Messenger of God. Perform the prayer, give Zakah, fulfill the obligations, be kind in life, do not waste anyone’s right, and remain truthful.
He further said: A religion in which these moral issues and acts of worship do not exist has no value. Whoever does not care about the rights of human beings, does not care about dowry of wife, the rights of the neighbor and the parents, sheds blood unjustly, and commits crime, extortion, and deception, and thinks that he is religious, is making a severe mistake, and such religiosity will never become the cause of his salvation.
He said: Islam is a complete system and package of beliefs, acts of worship, rulings, and morals. Hold firmly to the religion and act upon the entire religion.
Knowledge is the means of progress and prosperity in this world and the hereafter
Mawlana Abdol-Hamid, at the end of his remarks, pointing to the importance of knowledge and its relation to the progress of societies, said: Acquiring knowledge is necessary and important. Contemporary and religious educations are the means of progress in this world and the hereafter and the cause of prosperity and development. Therefore pay attention to the education of your children so that they acquire knowledge, wisdom, skill, and expertise.
